Caliper Pin Punch...

I'm changing my pads out to ceramic. What are you guys using to push out the caliper pin? I know that Brembo makes their own and sells it for $30.00, but I'm sure you guys have some ideas. Also, just curious how many of you are sanding the rotors when changing out the pads and if you are doing this, are you sanding both the inbound and outbound rotor surface. Thx guys!

Buy a set of harbor freight punches and use a drill start to dimple the end of them. Works like a charm.

Bumping because I may be doing a brake pad swap tomorrow...

I'm not sure what you mean by this? A drill start to dimple the end of them?

I think he was referring to an automatic center punch that puts a dimple in a piece of metal to help the drill bit not move around. I’m not sure it is needed if you are careful.

Im not 100% sure what he meant but punches usually come to a point where to knock the pins out .....and not slip..the end needs to be concave.

I would also recommend a rubber tipped hammer JIC you do miss you dont chip your powder coat on your calipers.

Flat punches work just fine if you pay attention to what you're doing. Or you can drop more coin for one of these...

I guess for someone changing pads weekly at the track a dimpled pin and convex punch may be worth the extra one-time work. But like the RB punch it seems like overkill to me.

Right with just a little care a plain punch works perfectly, there's absolutely no reason to drop $28 on a "Brembo" punch.
