Wash your car in the coolest part of the day, in the shade, which at this time of year is the morning, at dawn.
Perform a pooling rinse after rinsing all the soap off, which will greatly minimize the amount of water left on the car. If you have any water spots, use UWW plus concentrate and do a wipe down with gentle pressure. It's inexpensive, and works great.

I wash at the coin wash, spotless rinse, then do a Garry Dean wash and dry in the detailing area there. No hard water spots...

Thanks for all the info everyone! I've learned a lot from reading your responses, linked threads, and watching the videos. I'm sure I'll settle into my own method over the next few months.

I bought one of those smaller in-line water softeners and use it in-line with my pressure washer, in an attempt to stop washing the car with such hard water. It almost works for one enitre wash, then I have to recharge it because the water coming out measures hard again. I have a water softener system for our house but the outside spickets are bypassed. I have a utility sink in the laundry room that is softened and leads directly to the garage. Trying to figure out a way to run that hose from the utility sink, through the door to the garage, then to my pressure washer?!? Would like to be able to close and open the door while washing as needed, and any type of hole in the door will need to be able to be plugged when not being used?!? Toyed with the idea of removing the deadbolt in the door when I wash and running the hose through that hole.

I bought this little guy to blow water off after a wash. It has a great power to price ratio. I doubt it works as good as a $400 piece but at $32 it’s hard to beat
