Adhesive remover for wheel weight goo

Can you recommend a solid product to get the goo off without paint damage to the wheel? I had my A/S and summers swapped out and of course there was a weight change on one wheel the they left the adhesive backing from the old weights. I wouldn't presume that basic Goo-Gone is going to get the job done here.

Edit: WD-40, perhaps?

Start with Goo Gone. There are several types. Automotive is the one I'd start with. Let it soak. Use a plastic scraper tool.

Next, I go to Turtle Wax Label & Sticker Remover. It's a little stronger and gets almost everything off.

Then Stoner Tarminator Tar and Sap Remover. Much stronger, use gloves. Again plastic scraper tool.

One of those will get it off.

CarPro Tar-X works great with any adhesive based products, or get a rubber wheel and it won't tear up the paint

I have a Malco account and use several of their products, but that product has a big warning on it for causing cancer so be careful with that one!

ah yes Cosmoline...you guys familiar with that product? I can still smell it...from being a prior collector of surplus firearms from Eastern Europe, cosmoline is just plain nasty to clean out of a rifle. Used as a storage preservative/protectant.

Not too familiar, but have been using it here and there since going to the NAPA dealer that carried the product line to find something that WILL work on the residue after removing the sun visor warming decals. Kirk is much more in tune, I'm not a detailer or anything close. But I did just use it for the very purpose of the wheel weight goo

Malco makes good products that work. I am just up to my elbows in the chemicals every day so i try to avoid the ones that have cancer warnings.
