Today's my daughter's birthday. When someone asks her "What is your birthday?" she always answers "D-Day". Most have no idea what that means.

So many gave so much....

a special salute to the members of "operation overlord"! veterans of world war II are passing at the rate of 1000 per day.may they all rest in peace !thanks to them,and all my fellow veterans who "stepped up' to serve their country,in order that all of us may the fruits of their/our labors.:flag2:

I realize the following has nothing to do with V-day but it's a touching story regardless:
I was talking to a lady yesterday whose uncle's remains were recently found (along with 3 others) under a collapsed building in what was once a Korean prison camp 61 years after they went missing. His remains are being accompanied by an honor guard and being returned here to Spokane, WA for interrment. While he was a POW he was awarded a Silver Star, and other medals for his valor. He never knew this, he never saw his medals.
It makes me sad to think he died thinking no one would ever know what happened to him... But he will be remembered, and honored for his sacrifice finally, after all this time, he will come home.
Huge thanks to those who served.

No, we must NEVER forget. D-Day was the beginning of the end for a ruthless dictator and we must never forget this day, or why this operation was launched.

Thank you for the reminder. We must never forget that not only is our freedom bit free, the cost of it was & continues to be paid in the lives of the bravest Americans. Our gratitude should always be expressed and demonstrated deeply &frequently. :flag1:
