Header Temps

If you have a set of Kooks headers or similar, would you shoot the mains with a thermometer and tell me what temps you get after the engine is at operating temperature?

AND, Please for the love of accuracy, someone put a thermocouple on the steel itself and verify the accuracy of the said shooter. I have found them to be very inaccurate especially in surrounding areas

I had my Kooks longtubes coated and forgot about it. Wise investment if you ask me.

While I don't have a thermometer to measure, my headers are uncoated and run up to 800-900 degrees F. I'm sure it varies under load, but that is nominal temp from what my understanding is at least for my headers. Admit I am not sure what you mean by "Shoot the mains"

The header mains are the pipes for each individual cylinder

The IR thermometers are not accurate on highly reflective surfaces like chrome, ceramic coating or polished steel. Just FYI

Got it, my shop specifically recommended plug wire boots and told me the headers can reach 800 degrees or more. Which I did put 2500 degree boots on my plug wires.

Jet hot says the typical aftermarket headers would show 500-650 at idle
