The Maggie is 4 lobe & 4 lobe for the rotor pack. The Whipple 2.9 is a 5 lobe & 3 lobe combo, while the 3.0 is 5 lobe & 4 lobe if I remember correctly.

And their screws are different than KBs, right?

The Maggie is a high helix 4 lobe true roots blower. The 2.9 rotors being different sizes spin at a different rpms and I think that's ne reason the create higher IATs from what I understand.

Anybody reporting high MAT's with the 2.9 either does not have the IC system properly bled or they are over spinning it which will happen with any PD blower. Whipple needs a larger fill tank is the biggest problem with their kits. Once they are properly bled they run fairly cool. I have logged and tuned several different setups with 1.7's, 2.3, 2.65's, and 2.9's. There is a lot of biased info out there. I am not a "whipple guy" or "maggie guy". I like all setups and the tuning plays a bigger roll then the power adder brand/type on this platform.

The 3.0 is a 3 x 4. They did this for more air flow.

I really wanted to stay with the Whipple when I had it. I tend to want to lean away from anything that most people think is the best or needed because "that is what has always been done", and at the time people wrote the Whipple off before the 2650 even proved itself IMO. I ultimately caved but made sure to collect every data point we could on the same car (mine), same engine, same cooling, same fuel, same dyno, same blower RPM, and in mostly the same DA when doing comparisons. Thankfully I already had 100+ passes on the Whipple with data logs from each to put my mind at ease on the switch and I'll have more than that if I decide to give the new Whipple's a try.

Interesting strategy. They going to refresh and sell used ones now? That might be a good deal for some folks.

I don’t think so. Probably more of a “make sure 2.9 guys don’t buy a 2650” move on Whipple’s part. Plus, I suspect it’s an easy upgrade since I think it’s the same 10-rib pulley drive system.

Have any of these hit the streets yet that anyone knows of? Might be my winter upgrade from the 2.9....

Out of curiosity, how much power were you making and what was your best ET/trap with the Whipple?
