Best All Season Tires

I have a 2SS on order that comes with summer only tires. From what I have been reading, there are not many people here that like the summer only tires. The 2SS is not a daily driver and will not be going out in the snow no matter what tires are on it. So what does everyone recommend for all season tires?

What most people don't like is the runflat Goodyear tires that the SS comes with due to their lack of wet performance and hydroplaning resistance, harsher ride and high noise level.

I have been using Michelin PS4S tires that are superior in every way, and especially so from the above aspects. Although these are summer tires, I have driven them in colder weather and they are usable all the way down to 38-40 degrees, of course the colder the road surface, the more careful throttle control is required.

They obviously won't handle sub-32 degree temps, ice or snow gracefully (or at all), but if you don't drive in true winter weather, you won't be much better off with all-season tires. Also, being in Long Island you probably don't want to expose the chassis and the suspension to the good old northeastern salt and brine anyway.

Sorry about not recommending actual all-season tires; if I really wanted a set, based on my experience with the PS4S I'd probably choose the Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4.

Well I’m not saying I won’t drive it in the rain but definitely not in the snow because the roads on Long Island are not plowed all that well and also because of the salt, as you mentioned. Also as you mentioned the summer run flats are noisy, don’t provide a smooth ride, and don’t handle well in the rain which is why I will probably replace them when I get the car.

ive been running cooper as-3 for about 40,000 miles,still have some tread left.when it rains here in florida it freaking pours and i havent had a problem.not sure about traction or ultimate cornering ability as im not out here road racing.

I’ve had the Michelin 3 all season. They were very good for an all season. I imagine the 4 would be an improvement

Another vote for the Continental Extreme Contact DWS06+.

I've had my 2ss for over 5 years, OEM summer run-flats until a few weeks ago. I love the DWS06+'s - much quieter, ride is not as jarring over expansion joints etc. Plus in the past I had to wait at least until the temperature was above freezing to drive in the winter - and even then I had to drive like a grandmom. Now I don't have to worry about the temperature, although I avoid snow and salt.

+1 for Continental Extreme Contact DWS06+

I had a set installed on my 2017 2SS about a month ago and they are great. Much quieter, ride is much better.

Drove in a good bit of rain yesterday and the tires did great. Hit a few spots of water here and there and control was solid. Very confidence inspiring.

I've driven the PS4S since it hit the market in 2014 (?), first on two GTRs and now my 1LE. I've driven it year round without incident on days 40F+ when there's some heat in the road. Tire Rack, a sponsor here, has rated it #1 high performance tire for a longtime.

If this is a good weather car only, get some max performance summers. Conti ECS, Michelin PS4S are the best.

Just to chime in, I’ve actually driven my car where temps would hit below 30° and the PS4s handled it beautifully, now this doesn’t mean go reckless and floor the car. Just drive the car “normal” like any other car with a wee bit more caution and you will be good
