I almost bought a silver 1LE but it looked so plain next to the red one.
The clear used by GM and other manufacturers is relatively soft due to formula changes for environmental restrictions. I asked the dealership not to wash it before I picked it up, but they did anyway. It was covered in swirls. Last week I had paint correction performed and they were able to remove most of them. They didnt want to get too aggressive since the car was so new and there will be a need for future corrections probably. I just wanted a swirl free foundation to start with. Was tons of rail car dust embedded in the paint even after I washed with Iron X and clay barred the car.

You're right, it is hard to see the swirls on white except for direct sunlight. In the sun's reflection, you can see the scratches and swirls.

In contrast, my daily driver is a dark gray 2015 RAM 1500. That truck sees snow, rain, mud, salt, and I run it through automatic car washes (lol, it's a truck) and it looks brand new. No swirls, no scratches. That paint is awesome and hides everything.

Pure white paint is a nightmare, if there's no pearl or metallic in the surface. I'd never had any problem with Xpel edges showing - except on a refrigerator-white car - where all the edges of the Xpel showed up as dark lines from the dust and bug jerky hitting them. This was not a problem on my wife's pearl-white car; there was just enough "pattern" in the paint to hide the dirt.

Rail dust, bird poop and yellowish acid rain spots also show up prominently on pure white. I really like silver-to-medium-gray paint colors for hiding all that crud, but gave in to "fun cars should be fun colors" this time - Red Hot!

Yup! I wanted to get the entire rear quarter panels wrapped in Xpel but the shop said they wouldn't do it unless the whole back half of the car was done because all edges would show. He proved it by showing me an example they tested on an all white panel they leave outside for a month.

Hello Everyone,

I'm happy to say that last Saturday I became a member of the Camaro club again! While I've had many Camaro's over the years, there is something very satisfying having this level of performance while also having lots of comfort!

I'm just getting back into this.....do you happen to have any links or names of quality products? I like the idea of having lift pads as well as rock guards. I was actually wondering about this. Please PM if necessary. Thanks!

I used ZL1addons rock guards and lift pads from one of the site vendors. I think it was Thatgmpartsguy, now Wildhammer.

Pardon my ignorance, but what are lift pads?

The ones I'm talking about are aluminum blocks that bolt on to the pinch weld lift points under the car allowing you, or someone else, to lift the car without damaging the pinch welds or rocker panels.

Care must still be taken, but it gives you a clear and obvious place to lift the car using a shop hoist, or a floor jack.

I use one of these:

Not the floor jack and stands.

Does the quick jack fit under the car? I know there is not much clearance.
