Except that isn't android being picky. When you use a cable without the data wires in it, nothing reaches Android for it to be picky about.

OP
I'll make this simple. Go to the Settings menu on the stereo and scroll down, you'll see Apple CarPlay and you should see Android Auto. If you don't see Android Auto then you need software update. If you do see Android Auto in the menu, then you need better cables. /the end. |

Right, but as a consumer, most people dont understand the difference that the cables can have and just order "USB-C" cables thinking they all work the same. Hence, why its easier to just say "USE OEM CABLES WITH ANDROID" to guarantee they work for AA.

OP, make sure you have the app downloaded on your phone. Also go into the mylink settings and make sure it is selected and activated. If it still doesn't work, it's probably going to be one of 3 things. The cable, the USB port in the console or something in the programming in the Mylink. |

I followed the mentioned steeps with my stock cellphone cable and it did not worked on neither of the 2 usb ports. Here I send you pictures of my car screen & cellphone screen with the Android auto app screen. I only see the apple option as you can see on my picture. Please advise.

As I mentioned previously... That means you need software update from the dealer. Last edited by I`m Batman; 02-15-2019 at 05:26 PM. |

Do you have a way to test on another phone and cable?
I have seen cables go bad but still allow charging and I have had that happen which wouldn't allow me to use AA. I would first replace the cable before forking out for the update. At the very worst you will just have a spare cable you can keep in the car and dedicate to AA |
