Can anyone here confirm on if in order to remove the rear speaker tray cover, you have to remove the entire backseat?? I'm getting my rear window retinted and the guy that's doing it for me would like to have the rear tray removed to protect and to give him better access to the window.

Does anybody know if the rear side "speaker inserts" are removable or do you have to pull the ENTIRE panel off of the side
looks like you could get a tool in there, but I don't want to push it if it is hard fastened

I’m installing a 6 point cage in my 18 ZL1 Vert and came across this thread while trying to figure out how to rip the back interior apart.
2fullgarage - I can’t really tell if you can remove the speaker grill/cover apart from the larger quarter panel, but I wouldn’t bother trying. You can remove the entire panel in a matter of minutes with just your hands. I’m always nervous working on interior trim that I will break a clip or a plastic bit, but it has never happened. Just keep pulling it off with slow, steady pressure, more than you think is necessary. Then you can remove the lower seat belt anchor with a T50 Torx bit and be able to flip it over the side as shown in the attached pic and get to the back of the speaker to replace it. Let me know what speaker you go with and how it compares to stock (I have Bose). |

I have a dumb question I need some help with on this tip. Can anyone (Chris227?) tell me exactly how to disconnect the wiring harness clip from the circular rear speaker shown in the attached pic? It has a red tab I slid backwards with a small flat blade screw driver, but I don’t see if anything else needs to be unlocked/pressed/etc or if I just need to pull harder. I’ve pulled pretty hard already so am hesitant to pull harder unless I know that’s the way.
TIA! |

Yes you can remove with plastic trim tool. The speaker grill arm rest section. |

If i remember correctly the small tab is located right under where the locking tab slides down in your pic. Just press in and pull. I believe i used a small Flathead screwdriver and pressed it in on the tab and pulled at the same time. |
