Talking JDP Motorsports - MSD Atomic AirForce Intake Manifold Dyno Testing

We installed the MSD Atomic AirForce manifold on our 2016 Camaro SS with no issue what so ever. Bolted up like the factory manifold. The only provision that the manifold doesn't have for the Camaro is a fuel line crossover clamp. Within a minute, we had a solution. Clamped to the existing bolt on the manifold. See below:

CHECK OUT THE RESULTS!! 20 RHWP and 20 RWTQ! It made more at multiple points through the curve. This mod is officially worth every penny. Nicely done, MSD!

All the best,

Jared Royce

I hope MSD finally got it right this time. A few years back if I can remember they had one for the 5th gen LS3 and it was pretty disappointing as far as performance results.

I believe they wound up pulling it from the market because they couldn't justify that it made any more power over the stock manifold.

Good luck guys. If it gives you another 10-15 rwhp over stock, I'm not sure I'd pay 1000 bucks for that. If it's closer to the 50 that they advertise then maybe.

Very anxious to see these results! In the C7 world it's fairly well accepted these aren't worth anything more than a port job on the OEM manifold, but every car, and setup, is different so it has me very curious what you'll find.

Are you testing with the stock TB or ported?

We'll find out what it does for sure in many configuration over time through testing. We're interested to see what the manifold does alone and then with the VMAX throttle body.

We'll be testing both the OEM throttle body and the VMAX as well. Then it's on to our header testing!

Kind regards,

I love your attention to detail while testing, it is definitely appreciated! Does VMax offer a ported intake manifold that you could test as well?

I'm guessing this intake is a relative dud on a stock setup. If it was a performer we would have seen actual dyno data from MSD already and these would be flying off the shelves.

The MSD made about 30 hp on the corvette when tested in Super Chevy or hotrod, can't remember which one it was. But it was the LT1 motor.

I thought it was the ls7 it showed good gains for....on par with a ported fast intake.
That's the corvette test I recall...
