Stupid Question about Rear Diff.

Alright, stupid question incoming....
I have a 2017 Camaro V6 2LT Auto. I saw this in my manual, I'm at 17,400....never changed the rear diff fluid...is this necessary for an daily driver? I do not exactly see it in the maintenance schedule....

Thank you,
Christian.

Thank you,
Christian.
The owner's manual calls for replacing the fluid every 45,000 miles, but only for models equipped with a limited slip differential (yours isn't) and those exposed to "severe" use.

Some also propose that the initial fluid be flushed early to get rid of wear-in contamination, but I am not experienced enough to confirm or deny this for your 2LT A8, hopefully others will chime in and advise.

I saw that in the severe part as well. Otherwise I didn’t see much else...that’s the one thing I never got done on my first oil change...

I changed mine a 1000 miles. There was metal in the magnetic plug and the fluid looked dirty. I am glad I changed mine. Cost was 20.00 for fluid.

I only did my engine oil at 1000 miles but I plan on doing the transmission and rear diff fluid as soon as it warms up outside and I feel like spending more time in the garage.
