Best lap of 2019 on the new track surface. On line, the grip felt relatively consistent with last year, off line it was a little less. I drove a few cars while I was there on street tires with comparative data from the previous track surface. Still had a load of outside front left tire wear and finished off the slicks by the end of the weekend. Have previously used DTC-70, ST-43 and a few other brake pad compounds in the past. This time I decided to try out the power stop pads to see if it was a waste or not. Welp, they work. And when I say the work, I mean they work great. Almost the same bite as the 70's which has been my long time pad of choice on a ton of platforms including the camaro. No fade whatsoever...and I tried to make them fail. They didn't overheat the calipers and rotor wear and pad wear was less than the 70's.
Lap data was monitored on PDR, Aim solo 2, and APEX Pro. I will post up go pro footage of a slower lap as well, sadly the battery died when I ran the fastest lap. Still mistakes being made in the car and room for improvement on this lap. Lots of traffic all weekend and only had a few laps to really push. Even with this being one of the laps, I still wasn't able to put it all together. A time of 1:33.xx is out there for sure, maybe even a 1:32.xx...maybe next year I can get it together. ha! Shaved over 3 seconds off of my previous personal best at MSRH CW trying to chase a C7 Corvette Grand Sport on Saturday! The cooler weather and SCCA time attack event the day before probably helped too. Really looking forward to running CCW the next time I go back after running CW the last 5 days I have been there.

Looks like Mr. Provoste may need some help keeping up with this thread. It may be time for some helpers, so I'm volunteering if needed.

No worries guys, I’m working on it. Times are updated through page 46... got through 14 pages today. I’ll get it finished up tomorrow with some thoughts plus my own fresh VIR submission on OE SS 1LE G3’s. |

Ok guys, sorry about the lack of updates and I regret being a bit out of touch on the board over the last few months. Work/Home Remodel/Life has kept me very busy.
The thread is completely up to date, as I was 15 pages behind... I'll skip going through each submission. Some really impressive driving is captured in this thread, we have a SERIOUSLY impressive track time database. Well done guys- keep them coming! |

Track= VIR Full
Elapsed Time= 2:03.91 Camaro Model = '17 SS 1LE Date= 11/21/19 Tires= OEM SS 1LE SC3 Mods= Hawk DTC 60 pads, front strut mod, track alignment This was the Sunday early afternoon instructor session with Carolina's PCA. I've been more and more impressed with the OEM SS 1LE Goodyears as I have driven them more. My RS4's (as Patrick D. will attest) were completely trashed, so I bolted up the OE wheels and tires. I was not disappointed. By the way- a stock SS 1 LE with track pads shouldn't close a 996 Cup car on slicks under braking!!! Fast lap begins @ ~6:30 min |

For Provoste's lap, I compared Tony Q at C&D at Lightning Lap in the 2018 M6 ZL1 1LE. For the Climbing Esses's, Provoste was much quicker given the differences in cars.
His vs. Tony for speeds: At the Bridge 122 / 129, peak (non-wheel spin) speeds 133 / 137, and minimum 120 / 118. Furthermore, towards the top of the hill in those corners, at the end of the LH rumble strip, Provoste was going 128 vs. 124, and at the start of the next rumble strip on the RH side, he was at 122 vs. 118. Summary: Tony is decent but Provoste is much quicker of a driver in my opinion. |
