Just for a reference thru Ken at KNS I replaced my front rotor rings, new bolts, and both rear rotors with Girodisc and new Hawk pads for about $1400 today. No labor since I did the work myelf.

I'm glad you had good results with that.

For me, I don't like the idea of piece mealing the rings and hats. The potential is there for balancing and vibration issues.

GM put proper brakes and components on this car, why fix what ain't broke.

As long as people realize and budget for consumables, then it's a non-issue. Anytime you buy a sports car, you have to factor in the cost of tires and brake pads/rotors. I always amortize those costs on a monthly basis and have funds set aside for them. If you can't afford that, then you are over reaching your finances.

TRZ06 please don't interpret this in a negative manner. I would like to thank TRZ06 for his post explaining how he saved money and did the work on his own. I started working on hot rods over 40 years ago and one of the reasons I purchased a Camaro over a Corvette is the ease of maintenance. I would like to enjoy working on the car. As I read the DIY forums in the Corvette section it seemed like too much of a hassle for a fun project. I hope anyone with cost saving and DIY tips will continue to post. I'm watching this thread to save money and time when I need to replace brakes. Keep those tips comin!

I’m pretty firm on sticking with stick parts personally. However I could use a good shop in the Houston area. Not going back the dealer. They haven’t called me either on the fronts. So I’ll just take the $180 as a lesson and work with a trusted local mechanic from now on.

Also really want to get rid of that braking shudder. Might as well change my fluid as I’ve had 2 liters of SRF sitting around for that purpose.

Any opinions on brake lines? Stock ok? Maybe better feel with aftermarket? Please let me know.

I think whole F assembly (hat and disc) from Rockauto.com is about the same as some discs only, but going on foggy memory here, so pls check.

3 yrs and 60 track days with stock lines and haven't felt a need to upgrade them (running SRF). They work fine for me just fine and regardless of venue. I'd rather spend $ on tires and track fees

Well damn, I hope my brakes last longer than that. I’m ok with changing the pads though and I see where the rotors could be worn at that point too. I haven’t seen anyone who’s said their calipers are shot at 33K.

OEM rotors were like $350 each at Rock Auto plus some shipping.
