Engine goes up and down at low rpm at cruising speed
https://youtu.be/hEHPqof5QP0
So I recently noticed my Camaro 1SS 2016 A8 does a weird thing when I driving at cruising speed. The rpm will go up and down at low rpm when is around 1.5k. This never happens before because I drive my car daily, also you can hear the engine sound goes up and down to in the video. I found a thread that people were talking about an issue similar to this but didn't really find a solution. Any suggestions? Thanks! |

When mine started doing exactly that around 25K miles I took a video that looked exactly like yours. Went to the dealer and they confirmed the A8 shudder problem and did the transmission flush / new fluid procedure no questions asked. No problems since then.

Mine has started doing the exact same thing. But mine also vibrates very rough when I accelerate heavily from a dead stop or any MPH's under 25 to 30. When I'm above 30 MPH or so, it won't vibrate on heavy acceleration. The RPM's are doing exactly what yours is doing when I'm just cruising. My engine is the V6 LGX.

Check out the A8 transmission shudder threads here, there is a TSB (18-NA-355) that dealerships will perform free of charge, no questions asked, if the car is still under the 60k powertrain warranty.
The sooner you get this transmission flush, the better. It fixes the issue in most cases except if the shudder got so bad over time that torque converter clutches got damaged, in which case you will need a new torque converter.

Do you have an aftermarket CAI on the car?

Agree with above posts regarding the shudder. Mine was pretty bad and i had it at the dealer a week before the tsb was released, so I had to wait and do a bunch of research on my own before coming across it. I have a copy of that TSB and I can email it to you. If you’re interested, send me your email address and I’ll forward it to you.
