Question wrapped hood....

Hello.

A cat has been walking and sleeping on my hood. this morning I woke up to find a scratch on my hood about half a foot long. Now when i feel it is not a keep scratch meaning there is no feel to it. it is smooth. I tried to put on some matte spray and wipe it...but its till there. what can i use to get it out?

its a 3m black wrap. like in sig. thx

Adams VRT would be worth a try. I use it on my 1LE hood with good results.

Do you have a picture of the scratch?

If you run your fingernail across the wrap, can you feel the scratch?

I use ‘Chemical Guys, Wrap Detailer’ and it’ll make short work on pretty much anything unless it’s actual damage.

I recommend waking up at odd hours to check your car. Bring a bat with you. All it will take is one good hit and you will not have the issue again. Been there, done that.

Adams VRT is a great product, I use it all the time on my tires but it doesn’t have any abrasive in it so it might mask the scratches for a very short time, VRT would not correct the wrap.

OP, you might check with a local company that does wraps and see if they think it can be corrected or will need replacement. Maybe someone here knows of a correction product? The issue I see is anything that would remove the scratches will also create a shiny spot in the flat finish.

On the subject of wraps ho much does it cost to get a hood wrapped?

My 97 TJ Wrangler (show Jeep) hood suffered damage with scratches down to the primer from an intense storm at work 2 weeks ago. Needs complete sanding and re-paint and clear coat. The cost is a whopping $750.00.

And if it does get damaged like in this case is it repairable or do you need to get it re-wrapped?

So did you hit a cat with a baseball bat? Get your shit together, that's terrible

As much as I care for my car I’m not beating up animals over it , that’s some fu$&ed up stuff there.

Put a cover on your car If you’re that worried about it, I did.

No I do not feel the scratch. Good thing.

I would not hurt the cat either.

The wrap cost me $250 at a local graphics place.

I'm gonna try that spray. 3m vids state to try a detailer. Then try a heat gun.

Do not heat the wrap too much. The satin finish might be impacted and will look more glossy.

If you can feel an edge on it with your fingernail you'll have to peel it and redo it.
