Anybody notice there are TWO cars in the video? One has the orange hash marks on the drivers side front fender and another one that has no stripes there.

Dances With Mustangs

Here's an idea... the Z/28 achieved its goal of establishing the Camaro as a serious track car, yet the sales were probably lower than they'd hoped. They heard the customer base loud and clear: "we want a Z/28 that we can afford!" so what if... this is the Z28...(no slash) that's using Cadillac brakes instead of the expensive CC, 305/19 Goodyears that aren't as expensive as the Trofeos (and last longer), and doesn't require wheel well extensions or the Z/28 spoiler... and they bring the price down to oh say...somewhere around $59,990. It's got some definite track goodies and suspension tuning but it also has a decent interior. Somewhere between a 1LE and a Z/28.
A ZL1 is a straight-line monster that's a street car. What that video shows is a ferocious track car. And keep in mind that's not on just any old track; that's on one of the toughest, if not THE toughest tracks in the world. And it's eating it up like it was born to. Street cars simply don't just handle the Ring like that; yet that thing looks like it's completely in its element. Can't wait to see what they actually call it and what it's going to cost...

And then there is what SZ0TSTA24 posted a few minutes ago.
http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=423664 I officially give up. GM, whatever all these Camaros are, I approve!

I stand corrected with what I said about the previous cars spied being 1LE because they must be the Z/28 cars or whatever.:eye bulge: Carry on.

The 2017 ZL1 if thats what they call it needs to compete with the GT500 and 580hp wont do it. Even at 650hp it will be less HP then the GT500 and Hellcat. Yes Hellcat needs a diet, but GT500 wont be much different in weight to the ZL, so i see it as the bigger competitor. I do plan to buy one in 2017 if they do it up right !!

Because the gap in torque is large, relatively speaking.

And I own that exact mustang you speak of and DAMN is it quick! It's actually for sale though. Looking to get into a less powerful Camaro and pocket some money.

But by my logic, 1LE fits best with the car you linked to in that video. As for the car (cars?) in this video...who knows. Again don't care...its going to be awesome.

Well I just picked up the Oct Car and Driver that has their lightning lap tests at VIR. The GM cars - Cadillac CTS-V and ATS-V, and Corvette Z06 killed the competition at any price. Fascinating how much the quality has improved on these products.
I think we'll just have the ZL1 in 2017 because that is the other low hanging fruit in the market. But its possible those cars are testing other 1LE/Z28 bits. Judging from the CTS-V, it looks like the ZL1 could easily match the GT350R. I like Ford's approach with pricing with the GT350 and GT350R. I am holding out for something like the Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca, or the Corvette C6 Grand Sport relative to the SS. I would like to see an SS model get the basic mainstream compromises removed: fuel economy gearing for the manual, more aggressive rubber /lighter wheels, the usual suspension tweaking to reduce understeer and improve cornering. If the engine needs anything that will make it perform better in terms of high rpm output and reliability, then add that. Eg CAI, better headers, simplified no AFM heads/valvetrain to give us maybe 485hp (put the 7 speed in for CAFE). Dry sump would be a great option like the C6 LS3 Grand Sport had - but only if needed. Maybe that's a 1LE or a Camaro Grand Sport.

Maybe, GM see's an opportunity here.
Ford put a whole heck of a lot of resources R and D etc. on the 5.2 Voodoo and a great job they did on it, but I've heard absolutely nothing about a GT500. I don't believe the SVT / Shelby team were given the resources needed to develop both with any overlap. Ford was first to market with the GT and GT350, but now it's GM's turn - they've given the masses a taste of what's to come and that will be enough to hold people off from buying at GT350 /R, and when the final product is shown, the masses will go Camaro. IDK, maybe, but it is interesting that we are being bombarded with all this stuff all the sudden.
