How difficult, and whats the potential for damage? (Onstar removal, Footwell lights)

So my dealer has gotten the footwell lighting back in stock. This is the package I am referring to: https://www.shopchevyparts.com/elect...-92330475.html

I plan on getting my car out of storage next week, and I have a few mods I will be doing straight away, mostly just replacing the reflectors and marker lights.

I plan on removing the onstar radio modules as soon as I get a warm day. Would it be wise to install the lighting myself as well?
I figure I will be in the same general area...

How difficult is the install of the lights and the removal of the module? How easy is it to do something wrong/break something?

This is my first and probably only new car I'll buy, and I am still very much in the babying phase.

Looking for a boost of confidence to do the job and get as far away from the dealers as possible.

Thanks for any advice!

It is not difficult per se, but a massive PITA if that makes sense, because you have to lie on your back in the passenger side footwell, feet up on the seatback while getting the bolts out of the cover panel under the glove box. (The two front ones are okay, but the rear ones are rather difficult to reach.)

Once that is done, though, there is not much complexity to the job itself, be it the footwell lighting or forcing the radio module on an OnStar diet, if even I could pull that off back in 2018, you can certainly do it yourself. Reinstallation of the rear bolts was where my patience wore out, to be honest , but maybe you are a saint

Yes, you want to do all your HMI work (front or surround camera kit, footwell lighting, OnStar removal etc) while that panel is off so you don't have to repeat the experience.

As a side piece, and I am sure there is a lot of information, I just would like to consolidate. Is there a front camera + installation process you'd suggest? I'm sure that would up the complexity, it wasn't on my list, but it certainly couldn't hurt. . .

Well seems this is one of the simpler units.

Really can't afford another large payment right now as I am about to PPF, so this may have to wait, and I may have to do my Camaro Yoga more than once.

Unfortunate but my money faucet needs to be replaced.

I totally understand, wouldn't we all want a whole row of money faucets, ha. You know what, it probably won't be that bad the second time, and you'll get a good stretching session out of it

I have the footwell lighting. I ordered it with the car. The dealer had a person that was familiar how to do it correctly come into dealership to install it on the PDI. The attached videos may help you decide which way you may want to go. Good Luck.

I've decided since I PAID them to put the lights in (And they tried to give me the runaround telling me they were installed before I got the car) I am going to let the dealer do that, and I am going to go back in to do the onstar either before or thereafter.
