Scarcity of 1LE models and value?

It seems the fully loaded models 2ss/rs are increasingly hard to find. To me they are the sexiest camero ever produced.
Do you guys think their value will hold better and possibly increase due to popular demand especially if chevy doesn't deliver in 2017?

No.

Anybody who wanted one could have had one. But virtually nobody did. So there is no popular demand. In the short term its just a used car.

Maybe in 20 years it will be valuable, but then again maybe not.

Agreed but more like 50 years. If you've watched any of the current auctions, the 60's cars have collector value along with anything with ZERO miles or a VIN ending in 0001.

So, if you bought one, put a tarp over it and never drove it, it will one day be worth more than your purchase price. Otherwise, it has depreciated markedly.

One potential curveball that should help is the 2025 CAFE standards that, for all practical purposes, outlaw V8s. What will the used V8 market look like when they are no longer made (a short 9 years from now)?

Watching the KC Mecom auction. A Cherry 2002 Z28 convertible (final year of production!) sold for $5750. So there's 15 years worth of "appreciation".

Doubtful, however it has the next best thing which is a strong resale. Something like the new 911R, now that will appreciate.

I was thinking more at their current value not msrp value hold. Say a 2014 1le/2ss/rs with 30k now, what is the value in 5 years? Will it continue to decline to low 20s or stay relatively strong. Thanks for your input gentleman!

Is the LE1 a law enforcement model?

This is the ONLY chance of these cars being worth more than you paid for them in your lifetime. LS3 is one of the last "non tampered with" (AFM) V8's

I've got every option except the sunroof. I bought it off the showroom floor... And it is my daily driver. Sometimes I wonder about driving a different car to get this one back into that showroom condition to hold value... But then that's 20k+ miles that I wouldn't have enjoyed the hell out of. My coffee runs are a blast! At the end of the day it's a car and I drive it like it's replaceable. In 2018 I'll likely be looking at trading into a 6th gen 1LE anyway and this 100k+ 5th gen will find a home with a teenage car nut.

Because he wants to get you to buy a new car and get the sale on your car a second time. This is a common tactic and in no way reflects on any aspect of resale value.

You could be driving an '88 Chevy Corsica originally painted in SB (Shit Brown) but now a wonderful collage of junk-yard colors, with a falling headliner, a transmission that only knows Park and Reverse, the full under-body rust treatment, and a heroin needle poking out of the center armrest and your salesman, if he thought you could afford a vehicle on his lot (any one, doesn't matter to him), would be pestering the crap outta you to trade in your Corshitca.
