deleted secondary cats, now engine light is on?

hey guys i deleted the second cats this weekend, was good for two days then the engine light came on. took it to autozone to scan the codes but couldnt pull anything up. i was under the impression that deleting the second cats would not throw the engine light. whats going on?

Thanks, Chaz

Without codes it's impossible to determine what is going on.

i understand that, but the autozone couldnt pull it up. should i try advance or something? there shouldnt be any code associated with a secondary cat delete though right?

weird, starting to think its another issue that just so happened to pop up after the cat delete. could it possibly be crappy welds and fresh air is getting sucked in where the pipes were welded and throwing off the o2s?

P2099 - Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System High Limit Bank 2 (from HP Tuners editor)

This indicates to me you either have a damaged O2 sensor (post primary cat) or there is a leak at one of the new welds on the passenger side.

The cats being removed by themselves would not cause this.

If you don't have access to a scan tool call and see if a local performance shop would hook up their tool and monitor the rear passenger O2 for you to see how it compares to the rear driver side.

+1 for info!

Yeah, my bet is that they couldn't weld the top part when they replaced the cats and there is a leak. I am at 54xx miles now about 4500 miles after my cats got cut out and no CELs.

Interesting, when i was watching the guy do my 2nd cat delete, he started to weld and I asked him how he got the weld up top to be sealed, and he showed me how his weld tool was flexible. he did say it was very important to make sure that all these welds were 100 pct sealed…

Going on 1000 miles after cat delete, no CELs...

ya thats what im thinking too, the guy that welded it for me did not have a flexible tip to reach the top spots, he said he was having difficutly getting to the top. so it is probably leaking and sucking in fresh air. i still have the cats, im going to take it another shop and see if they can do a better job sealing it. he also used 2.5 instead of 2.75. 2.5 was the biggest he had. is there a good scan tool i can get? mainly to just clear the code off after the new welds are done? not worrying about tuning it cause it will void the warranty. just something to wipe the computer code.

thanks
