Drop in pistons or full stroker kit?

So I have a question about an NA build. I'm planning on doing pistons and rods along with an MSD FBO setup, would it be worth the extra cash to get a stroker kit. I plan on doing nitrous in the distant future as well or would my money be better spent elsewhere. Car is an A8 I'm hoping to get close to 550whp with cam and FBO and eventually a 200 shot down the line. Can I get away with stock fuel system with just FBO and cam for now? My full wishlist is as follows:

MSD Atomic W/103mm TB
GPI SS4 or Pray stage3 cam
Longtubes/catless
E85
Rotofab
Possibly milled heads
CircleD converter
LT4 HPFP/injectors

Are you only doing pistons and rods for the anticipated nitrous?

More just to "future proof" the internals while the engine is out doing the cam I figure why pull it more than once

Should be fine with stock fuel system. I’d recommend doing the bottom end “drop ins” while the heads are off. Especially if you plan on any sort of power adder down the line. Stroker becomes a bit more expensive and really may not be worth it based on you’re goals. I see you’re in Arkansas. You should contact GPI and go over you’re goals.

Yea, I was really wondering what the cost versus the possible gains would be. I chatted with GPI in email but they kind of blew my question off without giving any kind of ballpark numbers so I figured I would hit up the forums to find someone that's done it if I can

Stroker will give you more torque lower in the rpm band and more power output overall but isn't necessary for what you are doing and it would be cheaper to just do drop ins. I am not sure what part of Arkansas you are from but I live in Memphis and have a 416 stroker in mine if you ever want to see how it feels/drives to help your decsion.

I wouldn’t do either for na. Talk to pray or anyone else that is nearly that quick and copy their set up. They are going crazy fast na.

I agree with Parish, neither for NA combo. Put your money into a nice slicks and skinnies or baller light weight brakes.

I went with the drop ins during my NA build just because it seemed like the best time to do it. Are you doing the work yourself ?

I have a buddy with a shop so I'm planning on paying him for access and some help but hes cool with me working on my own car there. I'm definitely doing at least the dropins just because I plan on nitrous later and I've watched Pray's video about the LT blocks and I plan on having it line honed and have the cylinders honed just to be certain everything is good. If I'm gonna do a cam and converter I might as well do pistons now so I dont have to pull the engine again later.

Thinking I'll just go for the pistons and rods for now so I can run more than a 150 shot of nitrous. Then if it releases a rod or something at some point I'll just build a try hard NA stroker monster haha.

I think one of the worst things about it is since to do it right it needs to be rebalanced and re honed and all that, but its just machine shops take forever. I mean its one thing on the cost at least its going to a business you know, but I've never been able to find a machine shop that turned around stuff in a decent amount of time, it always turns into a month, then into 3 months, then 6.

Just finding a reputable machine shop that wont screw you over is hard these days. I'll be asking GPI who they use for all of their work I'm thinking
