Borla / AWE Mid-pipe install
Added the Borla 60607 mid-pipe and AWE secondary cat delete pipes to my ZL1 recently. The crush sections just bother me too much (I did the Hooker pipes on my SS too) and I figured if I am going to fix that section, I might as well get rid of the secondary cats too and all the dips and dives of the OEM mid section.
The only issue I ran into was the weld in the O2 bung of the RH AWE pipe was incomplete and caused a tiny leak and P0430 and P2098 codes. I have a welder and stainless wire, so only took a few minutes to fix. Although my weld is nowhere near as pretty as the AWE ones! (No pics of my hack job...)

Looks like a clean setup. Are you running any headers, or is that still stock with the suitcase? Curious how it sounds. Can you throw in a YouTube clip?

The OEM crushed pipes are horrendous. I still can’t believe Chevy puts those on these cars. Pathetic.
You did good replacing them. |

I'm curious of the weight savings. Is it much louder?
I didn't know this piece was available but my only worry would be if it would put me over the DB limit at track events. thanks for sharing.

the crush pipes look terrible. How can this happen on the new 6th Gen ZL1? It almost seems criminal to see crushed sections of the exhaust ... Damm.

Surprisingly not much. I saved 3lbs with my awe touring setup over the factory. https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showt...&highlight=Awe |

Thanks all. Sorry for the poor orientation on the pics. Not sure how to control that.
No headers, stock NPP suitcase. Didn’t weigh it, but I would agree that a very slight drop around 2-3lbs is about right. Sound-wise, it is a bit raspier and slightly louder, maybe +10% overall. But not a massive change overall. Definitely no drone issues at any speed/load. In 6th at 70mph and the NPP valves closed it is hard to tell it is running over the normal road noise. Other mods are a Katech ported stock TB and the regular size dry Rotofab. I loved the way it sounded stock, and this is really just “more” of that sound, so definitely happy with it!

I just wanted true dual 3".. I think the Borla is 2 3/4"? Either way... getting rid of the squeezed pipe, always a win. Best regards, Dave

Yeah, nice meeting you as well! Sorry for being an a$$ there, I really should hold off on harassing people I don’t even know for their car being dirty. In my defense I do have a sickness when it comes to washing cars... I’m actually taking my wife’s SRT Jeep through a car wash right now...lol.
