As for tuning, what is the recommended tune for these cars ? On my previous 5th gen Camaro I had a "Trifecta" tune installed. Didn't notice a huge difference however it was a manual. I think the tunes work better on the autos. I paid about $600 for mine installed but that was about 4-5 years ago.

Unfortunately, if the fix is not permanent, I think the dealer is just going to say you were too far gone and you need a new torque converter. If you are planning to keep the car a long time, you could also just ask for the price up front to replace both the fluid and the torque converter. |

Tranny flush is done. No more shudder. Hopefully it lasts I feel like it should I barely put any miles on the car since the issue started. I'll try driving it more than usual the next month to be sure. Only 5-6 weeks away from winter storage.
As per my dash cam, this procedure only took them 1hr 45mins to complete. Still wondering about a tune. I have the GM CAI which came with its own tune not sure how that effects things.

Either way I think this has nothing to do with transmission/TC issues. |

And yes this has nothing to do with my shudder issue but many have suggested I get a tune now to avoid having the shudder problem return in the future.

Certain generic ("canned" or "boxed") tunes do exist, but I'd steer clear of them as they are almost always suboptimal, catering to the lowest common and safe denominator. I suggest that you work with an actual, experienced tuner on a calibration specific to your car. In fact, that's exactly what I did.

https://www.trifectaperformance.com/...#elProductInfo I worked with one of their reps with my 2010 SS years ago and it was a good expierence. Gains on a 2017 Camaro V8 are +35 ft-lbs and +40 WHP at the wheels on 91 Octane. Also, the Automatic Transmission gets a Tune to work in unison with the engine’s Tune to optimized performance. Shifting logic is improved and shifts have a more sportier character than Stock. Will this do anything to help prevent the shudder from returning in the future ?

For the record, I did try to consult with this company when I had a V6 and they were very "customer unfriendly" to me, but that's just one data point, plus as I said, I strongly prefer an actual professional tuner looking at my actual car and specifically tuning it. I do know tuners also have templates and base tunes, obviously nobody would want to start from scratch with each customer, but they will also do fine adjustments and make sure everything is optimal. For example, on one occasion Ted Jannetty did a street tuning session with me and adjusted throttle response on the fly based on my actual impressions and requests, you will not get anything like this from a canned Trifecta (or other) tune.

...how I ended up being the resident "level 1 A8 support contact" here, I have no clue

2017 Camaro 2LT 4-cyl with 24k miles here. One month after factory warranty expired, mine developed the transmission shudder. They did the flush per tsb 18-NA-355 and so far seems ok when I drove it home today.

Mine was fixed under warranty twice and then it ended up shuddering again once the warranty expired. I ended up taking it to a transmission shop that drained and refilled it for an astronomical price

Sounds like a classic case of the torque converter being damaged from the incorrect fluid from factory. The flushes would have fixed it if caught early on but since it kept coming back then they would have had to replace the torque converter. I remember reading they stopped doing that a while back though
