Tire wear advice
My rear tires are wearing out much quicker than my fronts and I need some advice. Have 6k miles on my car now and the stock supercar3’s are at 2/32” on the rear and 5/32” front. I don’t track the car but do have some favorite backgrounds that a drive everyday to work. Would you guys just replace the rears with (2) new supercar3 tires and call it a day or should I just get a new complete set of 4? Also, my buddy has (2) rear MPSS with about 90% tread that I can get for cheap but I’m not sure about going with different tires on this car. Any help is appreciated.

I would just change the two rears with matching tires to the front. The ratio on a lot of staggered fitment cars ends up being 2 sets of rears to every 1 set of fronts. I see it on a lot of vehicles at work with such setups.
I wouldn't be putting the super sports on if it was my car. Technically since you're matching on the same axle it wouldn't be the end of the world, but I suppose personal preference would be to have a matching set. Price out a few options though so you can make an educated decision (i.e. cost of two new rear goodyears vs. new set of something else) |

Depends on what you consider cheap for the rear set of MPSS. Might be a good option- wear all 4 at the same rate (stock g3s on front and MPSS rear) and get a matching set of all new 4 of your choice at a later time.

Thanks for the replies. Those are basically the two best options since I really dont want to buy a complete new set right now. The rear supercars are $340 each plus shipping/m&b and the used MPSS are $350 for the pair plus m&b. I like the grip of the supercars but I will probably switch to something with a tad better wear when I do buy a new full complete set.

If you're daily driving, MPSS and call it a day. Then replace all four with a set when they eventually wear out.

Interesting, I'm at 10,000 mi and my supercar3s are at 3/32 all around. I been debating the same about getting the Supersports just because I want to have longer life. I just need to also buy a dedicated set up slicks or drag radials also.

In the real world, throw the Michelins on the back and just wait for the fronts to wear out. |
