Boostane worth it?
I have a ‘18 ZL1 and have had a couple people mention
Boostane is good and I should try it. I’m stuck with 91 Octane where I live And trying to get to that 93-95 octane level. It seems legit, but is it snake oil? Should be able to get three tanks out of one bottle. Anyone ever use it? Good, bad. . ? |

I have been running it on my 2017 ZL1 build all this year as a safety net (never know when you might get a bad tank of gas). We were running ~ 95 octane on the dyno early this year and picked up a bunch of whp (double digit). Right now I run around 97-98 just as a cheap safety net for knock/detonation.
Won't hurt to run it on a stock car not sure of any realized gains on 93, likely minimal. Going from 91 to 93+ in your case would likely show #s on the dyno but nothing you'd feel with a butt dyno.

I use it all the time. I dont trust the pump gas to always give me a good fill. I have a 5 gal drum. I usually put 8 oz in at a time.

Just as an FYI, Race Gas now has a more concentrated formula, Race Gas Ultra, available for bigger builds. I just like the ease of not having to measure and transfer etc...

Just be cautious about emissions parts, if you have any on the car. I've read the ingredients, that actually work to stave-off detonation, can/will kill cats' and such. If you don't have them, then it's probably no problem. I think you might have to change plugs more often, too, but just know what you could be getting into.

I have tried them all over the years. Not sure if it is only marketing, but when you read what they claim with Boostane, it made me stay with it. I wait for their sales and buy the 5gal drum. I have one of the 32oz cans i think it is that i fill from the drum. The last one i bought was 20% off with free shipping. Think it came out to ~8 per can if you were to break it down.

Seriously doubting that stuff does much good at such a low volume, unless it has lead (which it doesn't).
You'd need 3 gallons of 117 octane fuel (xylene) to bring 15 gal of 91 up to 95 octane If there were such a thing as an unleaded 129 octane additive, you'd need 1 gal to bring 15 gal up to 93 octane.
