0-60 time

I have an automatic. I can not for the life of me get a good 0-60 time. I always get a 4.7. I don't use launch control and don't plan to. How do some of you get 4.0-4.3?

Sport or track mode, double tap the traction button (places in comp driving mode), foot to the floor on the brake, foot to the floor on throttle, let it rip

Clearly said I won't be using launch control and don't think I need to in order to achieve those times as others haven't.

It's an auto, not too many other options. If you don't want to do that, then keep launching off idle...

Put in track mode (track and sport have different throttle progression and shifting maps), Turn TC off, and punch it off idle. With warm tires you should be fine.

Keep wheel spin to a minimum. Doesn't take much wheel spin to lose 1/2 sec or more. My stock 2013 Mustang GT is a consistent 4.4 sec 0-60mph and my Challenger SRT8 at the same location is 4.2 0-60 but with sticky tires I did get down to 3.9sec. Just practice your launch and the quicker time will come.

..and FYI that 0-60 display in the dash isn't exactly scientifically perfect.

It's really not. If you are trying to load up on the converter it seems like it starts counting as soon as you touch the throttle even though the car hasn't started moving.

I just got my 2SS auto and put 1000 breakin miles on it and an oil change. Took it out to try the 0-60 timer this weekend and was disappointed in mine as well. 4.9 was the best it would do. My worst was 5.2. With me doing all the driving and rolling in to the throttle in 1st I got 4.9, then I used launch control and hit 4.9 three times in a row. I've seen video of folks doing it in 3.7 - 3.8 and wondering how they did it?

The only thing that could be a factor is it was 97° and about 50% humidity so I'm sure that didn't help.

I swear it seems like mine's hitting the revlimiter between shifts. Maybe I'm missing some shift setting in the menus somewhere.

I'm gonna try it again and hook up my OBDII reader with Torque to compare times with the car's computer.

I was able to pull a 4.0 0-60 on a 1ss m6 with no launch control, I feel it bogs out with launch control I rev it to about 4.5k and ease off the clutch not drop it.

Ok, did some more playing around in the car today. It was still over 90° out and humid at probably 50% or so. Miserable conditions to be testing performance but I digress.

With me doing all the driving I hit a 3.6. I'm not sure I believe the number as there was quite a bit if tire spin, but here's a pic of the readout. Using whatever GM calls launch control on the automatic where you mash the brake and stab the throttle I was able to pull two 4.6 times back to back. Something does seem odd with the launch control though. When I mash the brake and hit the gas and try to start the 0-60, I get a message on the dash that says the car must be stationary to start 0-60??? Is that how everyone elses reacts? The car isn't moving at all, it's like the message is tied to the throttle.

Anyway:

What's happening is that the car is slightly rocking back and forth, it's not enough to make a difference at the track but it is enough movement to trigger the app as the car is moving. I'll sometimes just keep it stalled up and make sure my foot is firmly planted on the brake and sometimes it'll stop and let me start the timer, other times I'll have to abort the run and try again

My best 0-60 with wheel spin is 1.2 sec.
