Ontario insurane rates is a scam especially if you live in Peel region
Young drivers cannot drive their own car anymore in the Toronto area. You need to drive your parents car as an occasional driver for a few years before you can expect reasonable rates.
My son is about to get his G2 "full" license. I got a quote to let him drive my winter car, a cavalier, fully insured (not occasional). $9000 a year. They werent joking either.

Unfortunately, that's how things roll here in Canada.

In preparation I contacted my insurance company, they quoted me 1263 for the year. I've had only one speeding ticket in 10 years. I want this car so bad but I still don't know what to do.

Car should be arriving shortly so I called my insurer today and was quoted $876 for the year. ($2 million liability, $500 deductible, 5 year vehicle protection). The price reflects that this is a secondary seasonal vehicle, and I am getting additional discounts for adding the second vehicle to my policy, and already insuring my home with them also.

Politicians promising insurance discounts...that's like stealing from yourself.

Isn't it interesting how insurance rates went up all of a sudden, and they say the government DOESN'T have their hands in the insurance business

When I get my renewal the only thing I'm expecting from the government is....
Lmaoo probably using the increases in insurance to pay for the gas plant scandal. Blows my mind people overlooked that!

But hey they dont have their hands in the insurance business like you said

Seems to be very similar to US rates. I assume all #s were in Canada dollars. I pay $812 for a year on mine USD which $1052ish Canada Dollars (29 married, zero accidents and no tickets). Sorry to hop in this thread but I like information :P
