Is It Possible to Read ECU If Not Totally Connected

I have had my 2017 ZL-1 up on jack stands with the battery disconnected for the past 3 years waiting to start on some major upgrades.

The only things that I've done so far is to remove the MAF, intake, O2 sensors and spark plugs.

My question: Is it OK/will anything be damaged if I reconnect the battery and read the current tune using HPTuners V12? Is it even possible to do this way?

This will be my first read of this ECU, but I don't have a clue if the previous owner had any tuning done.
