Squawk, my wife and I and another couple flew into Miami, rented a suburban and drove to Marathon where we had rented a house on a canal for a week. We fished for 2 days and drove to Key West 3 times. Good times and the weather was awesome in Feb.

If any of you go to Marathon, I highly recommend "The Stuffed Pig" for breakfast

Are most of those places up and down the keys nice? Like vacation spots? And what else is there to do....it’s not a real gold mine when you google it.

Honestly, we went down there to relax. Eat, drink, fish, sleep and repeat. We would drive to K.W., eat lunch, pop in and out of bars and shops, then eat at a different place on the way back to Marathon. We never went to a beach, but the water was so damn clear. I could see the bottom in 125' while fishing. It's far from a gold mine, but a good place for adult relaxation.

awesome pics.
I live in coastal WA state and this is where I go. Its definitely not tropical but there are salmon out there, and cold water has an amazing therapeutic effect on aching feet. There is nothing I look forward to more than retiring with my wife and planning trips to new beaches. Glad you are able to do it. |
