305 NT555r on Stock Rims

Happy fathers day to all the dads out there. So I wanted to post my experience of the Nitto NT555r's. I took a shot and bought them in 305\35\20 on the stock rims for the rears. They ended up fitting fine and the performance is outstanding. I literally can't get them to spin even in track mode in first gear from a dead stop slamming on the pedal. The feel of acceleration is unreal. I would 100% recommend these to anyone looking for super sticky drag radials that can be daily driven. They don't even require burnouts. I have even had a chance to drive in the rain (I would say a moderate shower) and no problems at highway speeds. So far 5\5 rating for me.

I'm thinking of going this route when my stock good years wear out. What tire do you have on the front?

What are you seeing for 0-60 times now on the car timer? Nitto lists 28.58in for the tire diameter so not sure how much that would throw it off if you didn't retune for the tire size

I have not had a chance to run 0-60 yet but I will repost as soon as I do.

I am still using the F1's on the front but I am going to switch them out for the non-R Nitto 555's in a month or so. The front tires still have plenty of tread left on them. My rears were completely toast to the point where the belt started to show.

You dont need to time it to feel the benefit. Have you turned off your traction control and left hard from a dig? I found they bite hard on the street and these tires seem to have a good treadlife based on info from members that have them.

Well I was responding to a question that specifically asked the 0-60 time so you kinda have to time it to answer the question right? If you go back and check out my first comment of the post I was saying how I could floor it from a dead stop with no spin. The increase in acceleration is off the charts. As far as tread life, I am not expecting too much but I am hoping they last me through to winter until I switch them out for all seasons.

OP I dig the NT555Rs too. Drag racers bash them, but in their defense they are the perfect street/strip tire for a high powered car. They wear okay and stick on the street. And as you mentioned OP do not hydroplane as bad as the the "good" DRs.

As far as drag racing goes I have cut mid 1.7 60's with them in the past. Still working on that with my current SS, only low 1.8s so far.

I also think if you supercharge or turboize your Camaro these are the everyday tires of choice. What is the purpose of all that power if you just spin through the lower gears?

The drawback is the 20x305x35s are taller than the stock rears. Not so good for a M6 as they are already over geared and the speedo is a little off. With my 1LE replica 11" wheels they rubbed the connector in the drivers side rear wheelwell. So I had to move that. I paired theses with 20x275x40 Nt 555 G2s in the front on the 10" wheels to match the height of the rears. This did not turn out so well as the front tires rubbed the spring collar. So I had to go with spacers on the front.

One drawback of the NT555Rs is you cannot run them when the temps are under freezing. They may crack.

This tire setup is less harsh than the Goodyears and really stick in the curves on a warm day. And if you are really serious about a hard launch you need to run the tires @ 18 pounds. Don't go corner carving at that PSI. And I now carry a tire repair kit in the car. Having AAA is also a good thing once you ditch the run flats. I also have a Camaro spare tire kit if I am not far from home or for a long trip.

Here is my SS. It is really hard to take a good picture of a black car. They look so much better in person.

I ran the same tire on my modified 5th Gen stock rims and while the tire seemed to hook very well in the street I never could get them to hook at the track.

I am actually going to go with the N555's in the front but I will probably stick with the 245's o avoid the rubbing issues. I was able to get a low 1.8 on the stock tires so I am very anxious to hit the track with these now. A buddy of mine with slightly less mods than me ran a 10.8 at the track I go to with torque management disabled. I am hoping to match him now that I can actually not spin through all of first and most of second gear on launch.

Salt Lake City. 2 of the races I let off as to not go quicker than 13.0
