I have the Uniden R3 with the Blendmount. It's awesome, definitely paid for itself.

I have both the R3 and R7. Whether it's worth the extra money for arrows ultimately is up to you, but to me having arrows helps tremendously with situational awareness. Looking this morning I've found the R7 on line as low as $530 from a very reputable retailer.

In my opinion go Uniden R3 if cost is a factor or go R7 if you want the arrows in addition to the great coverage. I own both as well as the Escort 360max. The biggest drawback i have for the Escort is using it with a mirror mount. It is hard to get to the buttons to mark a location or mute the unit cause it sits so close to the mirror. The Uniden R3 has front buttons and the R7 has them on the side, so they both work well when using the mirror mounts. All my cars have mirror mounts, and I also prefer the mirror power taps to keep it all clean looking.

Almost forgot to mention...i got my Uniden R7 from ebay..you can get them new and sometimes take advantage of the ebay 10%off sales they offer. That is what i did.

All good advise and I appreciate it.

I'm still leaning towards the two that I've mentioned earlier. The R3 has received many mentions. Curious as to why there aren't more Escort fans or mentions? They were pretty much the first radar brand I learned of back in the day when my dad was looking for peace of mind while driving.

I've been researching all week and will be pulling the trigger on something as soon as I stop concentrating on Dorian.

The R3 has one of the best ranges out there

I love my Uniden R3 and shuttle it back and forth between my vehicles. Firmware v1.5 now has segmentation to filter out BSM.

Escort Max360 (360c is the latest model, since it's release the 360's have dropped in price). Couple that with a blendmount wiring harness and you have a really clean install with no wires. In highway mode I get alerts up to a mile and a half away. I love this radar detector and it is the best I've ever had.

The latest firmware (US 16) that I see on their website is from January 3rd, 2019. It defaults to K narrow out of the box; try changing it to K wide if you haven't already. Those traps could have been using K band radar outside of the K narrow frequency range.

Following.
Interesting discussion. I haven't considered a radar detector in well over 30 years.
