so the resistors in the OP didn't work for me, may have been the leds I chose, but no dice, they remained dimly lit, and camera wouldn't shut off. Ran up to autozone and bought the Sylvania load resistors, wired one on the driver's side and it did the trick!

Just a heads up: I bought these Xenon reverse bulbs from eBay and they work great! Very bright and I love the colour at 6500K. No CAN-BUS error either and therefore no need for resistors.

That is like what I was talking about earlier. Those aren't LED so it wont cause any errors, still super bright and much more pure white than the stock bulbs. Those are like $18 USD shipped for me in GA. A bit much for two Xenon bulbs but looks like a steal in the UK.

I am sure you can find similar Xenon lights in the US. Have you checked eBay?

And yes, this is a great alternative, as they are bright and pure white and there is no need for resistors. So for me they do the job.

I am using similar high output Xenon headlight bulbs on wifey's Traverse that comes with absolute trash from the factory (I don't understand how it isn't a safety hazard, one can't see jack **** with those factory bulbs), and unfortunately they burn out extremely quickly, one pair didn't even last a year, they typically go 12-13 months, if that.

The only saving grace here is that we don't drive our Camaros in reverse that frequently, do we

Actually both, sadly. I typically buy high performance halogens, then I switched to Xenon bulbs, they are both excellent in terms of output but their longevity is abysmal.

Again, these are probably perfectly fine as reverse bulbs, as those are rarely on and even then only for 20-30 seconds, if that.
