Journal V Ball bearing

What's the deal with so many people avoiding Journal. Do ball really spool up that much faster? Are there other concerns I'm missing? Cause if that's the only issue, unless your professional racing for a living, it seems like a minor issue.

Really depends. Ballbearing turbos do spool up quicker. But Depending on how big your engine is in relation to your turbo, it might not be noticable. Like a 376 w/ (2) 5457 JB turbos it's not an issue. But you go up to a pair of 6565 turbos and you for sure want ballbearing on a 376. Also a major factor is transmission. An automatic car with a stall will never notice lag because it slips past those RPM right up to where the turbos are spooled up. Where a manual transmission has to re-spool big turbos every time you shift, so ballbearings and a big CID engine are best. It's just a big balancing act depending on your equipment.

Unless you add the No-Lift Shift feature (like with a n2mb WOT box). Then, you'll retain boost through the shifts, or if you have a ZL1 (comes with the feature).

Is there a mechanical difference in the ZL1 that allows the No lift shift, or simply the tune?

I've compared tunes several times, but I just cant figure it out.

The NLS parameters are not accessible in the tune. However, some other related settings can be modified in the tune to tweak the NLS like delays and such. But, there is no specific NLS section in the tune.
