That's why I sold my '69 Boss 429. Prices got so crazy that I didn't dare drive it. I sold it in '05 for what I considered an obscene amount of money at the time. While it's not quite in '69 ZL1 territory, it's close and I probably should have held onto it a little longer

NO WAY. Even if I had 100 million, I'd never put 750k on an older car like this, maybe a real Shelby, but most cars collectable or not, not interested. Mainly because I don't collect cars. I use them. I drove my numbered 7 (number 0822 of the last 1500 ever made) hard for 7 years, and I'm driving this numbered ZL1 (325 of 375 converted by HSV) hard 7000 hard kilometers in just over 6 weeks (almost 7 weeks). And the performance on that 69 is going to suck compared to my 19 ZL1. The only thing I like about it is it's simplicity. Can you even get points for her? How about a timing light? That might even be harder. I haven't seen a timing light in 30 years, LOL.

Would I spend that kind of money for one? Nope. About 20yrs ago I had a chance to buy one for $60K. Not nearly as documented as this one, but it was a real deal ZL1.

You can get everything you need to fix and maintain this car. Points, ignition coil, and a timing light are available in the Summit racing catalog, let alone every car parts store.

That just goes to show you that I haven't been in the USA in a while. I don't remember seeing one in any speed shop when I lived in Japan in 2010 and I don't see them here either. I'm sure they have them somewhere... just not in the isle I go anymore, LOL

Oh I see...... yes there’s still plenty of support for analog, carbureted cars in America.

The way things are going with new cars I think even a lot of us younger guys are going to turn to older cars for their ease of maintenance and repairs. The new stuff is just getting impossible to fix if you don’t have three doctorates in electrical/computer science engineering

Awesome cars and total respect to anyone who has one or would pay that much for one. I like to drive em, would rather have a mint 69 Camaro, LT4, M6 with AC. 20yrs ago sold a 69 Camaro z/28, maroon with white stripes, would have been nice to have that in the garage next to my Garnet Red ZL1. My ideal 7th Gen ZL1 Camaro would basically be a 69 Camaro bodyshape on a new generation chassis and interior with an LT5. Keeping all the tech and performance modern, made by GM and with a factory warranty.

I'm sure the individual who purchased this hasn't been scrimping and saving to accumulate the purchase price and you can bet it will probably be added to a rather impressive collection. Those cars stopped being affordable for average folks a LONG time ago. Even if I had that kind of disposable income I would be hard pressed to tie that much up in one vehicle but hey, I'm naturally frugal (aka cheap!).

Depends on how much money you have. I’m in real estate and know people that collect watches, art, cars, jewelry, etc. I’d rather have something I can use than a piece of art on the wall or a watch on my wrist that cost more than some homes.

You could build an 800hp 67-69 camaro that would kick Hiney for $100k (did 3 for less then that and not as much hp) and there is something about making an older car work (ask Steilow) and for sure they rev my motor more then my current 17, but...they're not near the comfort to drive and all the goodies ours have.
