I'm not a PR guy, I'm an engineer so don't quote me...

Having said that, I've met Mark Zuckerberg and have had conversations with him. I can honestly say that the media really puts a spin on him.

In reality, mistakes happen and when you listen to Mark he owns up to it and takes full responsibility, but no one has the intention of eavesdropping on your data. This is a side-effect/mistake that happens at all tech companies.

The real goal is **honestly** to improve your experience by understanding your use case. Data is stored to help steer algorithms to tailor to what we believe you'll like such as showing you posts that are similar to things you've shown an interest in the past. But the fact that some data is stored about you (even though a human being cannot see it) gets abused by the media and non-technical people get upset because they don't understand.

Ever wonder how you buy something or search for something on Amazon and now suddenly you see Ads for it all over Google? They are gathering data and sharing it with each other so that you see ads that are more likely to be something you're interested in. It's just data-in, data-out -- no one is looking at it but you, it is absolutely secure. Just like when you enter your credit card to purchase something online, data-in, data-out, no one sees it yet the world has become okay with that. So its hard for tech companies to know what data will make people angry and what wont.

The truth is that Mark is the most security-concerned guy I've met. How well that trickles down into the people writing the code isn't always 100% and thats where mistakes happen.

This could be a thread on its own so don't let me hijack -- but I know there's a lot of negativity. I would not work at Facebook if I did not believe in the goals.

It's just lucrative for media to stir the pot.

I paid payments on the ZL1 every two weeks until it was paid off. Does that mean I can own two of them? But that's not a fair statement I put a lot down and paid it off in 18 months. So maybe time for something else: the 2020 GT500?

While income apparently is a big thing, I think purchasing power or, what you can afford, is more appropriate. You could make a quarter of a million dollars a year. But expenses, children, etc can all combine and you'll have less purchasing power than someone who makes half that. Or even inheritance. There are some wealthy people out there who technically don't make a dime but inherited houses and cars and property and valuable items, lol!! Wish I was one of those. Anyway, I tell people, it isn't about what you make so much as it is about what you can do with that money. 3 people could all make $150K a year. But each of them will have different circumstances. One might be able to afford a used $1500 car, one might be able to afford a $15,000 car, and one might be able to afford a $150,000 car.

What you make is not indicative of what you can afford or your actual worth. If someone had a house and life insurance left to them by a deceased parent then they could definitely attain a ZL1 while making only $25K or even less. Especially if that house is paid off. You could take out a loan against the house. You could have saved up money for 5 years. You could have traded in a car you had that might've been worth $20K. Many different ways. Money is very interesting in that sometimes the amount you make in no way shape or form represents what you can attain.
