DSX flex fuel issues CODE P0178
Hello guys so I have a little issue going on and I can't seem to figure it out. I installed a DSX flex fuel sensor and I have got a remote tune and I'm getting code P0178 has nobody git this before?
I have made sure pin 38 is in correctly and took it apart 2 times to double check. And yes I removed the blue cover to make sure pin is even with the rest. Is there a way to check power of some sort? |

Make sure you’re connections are good. P0178 is low circuit. I’d suspect you’ll find a wiring issue.

Bad sensor is possible and double check obvious connections

You’re definitely in #38. Where are you getting power for the sensor? Coil?

I'm assuming yes I spoke to DSX and the plug from the sensor has 12v on the purple wire ground is good but im supposed to have 5v on the white wire coming from pin 38 and I have 1v. Don't know what it could be.

I’m gonna backtrack here. Do you have HPTuners? Did DSX ask you to check the frequency to confirm your ground is good and also sensor is good?

This is exactly what they told me. 1.Turn key on 2. Unplug sensor 3. Test power on purple wire should be 12V ( I have) 4. Test power on white wire should be 5V ( don't have) 5. Test ground for continuity. ( I have) So I figured out a way to test the ECU for 5V from pin 38. The power is there. I pulled pin out for the 20th time and noticed that the pin is a little defective. Might be the issue. |

If you have a male pin, do a pin drag test. That should give you an idea if the pin is damaged or weak. Maybe the pin is actually pushing back into the connector. I’ve seen this many times over the years. I’ve at times wither replaced the pin or if I’ve been under pressure to get the machine going I will bend the retaining tab to get the pin to seat in the connector.
Check the connector too to make sure the retaining tooth isn’t broken or missing or damaged. If it is then you will need to order a new pin housing. |

Going to order this pig tail, it sucks that I'm in a time crunch and now this happens. It's the easiest mod and it's all screwed up.

Errr. Butt connector. In a pinch this will work or should but a better method I believe through experience is to solder that wire to the existing wire. My experience on all sorts of cars and different equipment. If it was lights I wouldn’t say much but for ecm stuff we as in my coworkers and I will typically solder unles it’s super windy amd snowing/rainy like a biotch.
