When the time comes for new tires; I'll be getting all-seasons. We get enough cold temps during the winter here. I've had Conti- DWS on my 2011 SS. Also had good experience with BFG and General A/S tires.

I always run All Season Tires because the tread life of a dedicated summer tire sucks. I know it is a must from a performance aspect but if you do not track or auto cross your car then run All Seasons. I don't want to drop $1200 or more for a set of tires once a year.

For all-season, I've been surprised at these Cooper Zeon RS3-G1's. It's like Mickey Thompson made an all-season street tire with actual tread life and good rain handling. These are far more confident in a heavy rain storm than the General AS-03's were on my 2013 (stock Pirelli & Goodyear on the 2013 & 2016 were both a joke for interstate speeds in heavy wind and flash flood rains, I would just pull over). I wouldn't mind trying the General AS-05's next, as those also were a pretty good value on the 5th gen's for year round drivers and I imagine they've improved the high water displacement issues over the AS-03.
If I didn't commute in my Camaro, I would probably go with the Michelin's because they are a great dry street tire with excellent lateral communication because of their heavily rounded shoulders. Only thing I don't like about them is that the compound is progressive. The first half of their tread is gone too fast and as they wear the blocks aren't as soft (probably to maintain some sort of tread life). I'm sure others agree you are lucky to get half of their rated tread life before they start spinning on launch and get nervous around any wetness. |

Is it worth changing the tire measurements for my wheel if I changed to the PS4S or should I stick with the same 245/40/20 and 275/35/20?
Also, which specific Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires will be compatible with the Camaro SS? They don't seem to have the 245/40/20 and 275/35/20 option available for the SS? If it makes a difference, I'm attaching these to the 20x9 front and 20x10 rear wheels of the MRR M228 rim model. |

If you want to jump all the way up to the Cup2's, then I agree with above, going with a +1 tire is the best bet. You can always go at least +1 (which is actually 10) wider, but you can't always go higher profile -- especially on wider tires where the profile difference is larger.

I'm very pleased with Conti DWS06. Good traction on dry and wet conditions. These continental tires are predictable, and their cornering response is good also.

Anyone know how to measure the aspect ratio when changing tires?
Stock on front is 245/40 and rear is 275/35 but if I take my tire width up to 255 or 265 in front then 285 or 295 in rear, would the aspect ratio stay the same of 40 in front and 35 in rear or how would I change it to fit proportionally? |

Michelin PS4S is really the best choice.
The Contis are a decent cheap option.

Almost 15,000.. maybe 12K of that on PS4S and still plenty of meat left. Quite amazed by the tires.
I remember 10K miles in old dunlop Sp8K being GOOD on 220hp car 15 years ago.

I was thinking about buying another set of PS4S but I really wanted a drag radial. It is just really hard to justify a drag radial when your car is your daily driver. I just hate the fact that we have so much power to use that is useless in 1st and some of 2nd gear. When I had the PS4S new they would hold in first gear at higher rpms after peak torque and the converter coupled. However they still would not hook from a dead stop. I don't think we can expect any tire to hook from a dead stop, even a drag radial, without some traction control kicking on. I just bought a set of Nitto NT05,I decided not to get the NT05R, which is supposedly the "drag radial". Nitto's marketing is all confusing since it seems like they advertise the NT05 and especially the NT05R as a "drag radial" that also can corner. Another reason I went with the Nittos is the looks of them, the PS4S have a really economy car, ugly looking sidewall that is really rounded, as stated above may help cornering. The Nitto NT05 non R versions carry a 200 treat wear rating (160 for some weird lower speed rated version I can't find). The PS4S have a 300. Now I know you aren't supposed to compare tread ratings across manufactures due to lack of standardization, but I am hoping I can get a little better straight line traction with the NT05's, I got a 3.8 on the street with the PS4S, best the stock Good Years got was a 3.9 I think. |
