Broken dive plane

Has anybody else broken a dive plane yet? Today I was walking around the car and I noticed one was broken.
I'm going to take it to the dealership see if they'll replace it under warranty. If not I'll just replace it myself.

Broke my right one a while back. Obviously cheaper to fix yourself but I am in no way, shape, or form, a mechanical type person. I took to dealer paid something like $45 for the part and $50 in labor. They don't warranty that part.

How did they break? It's why I'm afraid to order the carbon fiber ones

Don't know how OP broke his....but.....I hit a cone at around 110 MPH during an "off-track" excursion at RoadAmerica. Was lucky it was just the diveplane! They are pretty tough composite material....I would think it takes a fairly hard impact to break them.

As others had said, cheap part and easy to replace.

OP, you might check to see if you broke any of the mounting clips inside the front clip/fender as the part doesn't come with them - you need to get the clips separately.

Broke mine at 100+ mph hitting a cone too lol.

Inexpensive and relatively easy to replace but reaching the broken clips through the fender liner was a pia. I believe the clip part # is 11547341

Hi,

I don't see how is it that under the full factory warranty the dealer will not replace a body part that has broken by non-collision, non-abuse means. I recently discovered that the top clip mount on the driver's side dive plane cracked, where the clip would fit on the plane to secure it to the fender. It is now loose, just stuck in the slot and not clipped in place.

I will be taking the car in to my dealer for warranty repair, and I'm sure they will cover the issue, as it's apparent there was absolutely no external damage done to the dive plane to cause this issue. My car has only 2,200 miles, and is less than a year old. I guess we'll see when I get a chance to drive it down there for them to examine.

I'll update everyone, since this has been mentioned a few times on this site.

I assume that someone walked into it but, I really don’t know.

Im not sure how it broke, but the clips are broken off. No other damage; im thinking someone may have walked into it..
I went to the dealership yesterday and the guy said to come back and he will attempt to run it through as warranty; but i decided to just order a replacement for it rather than waste who knows how long to save $50.
