So...we are in a unique situation - we own both in the 2020 config - I have a 2SS - she has a 2LT/RS.
I would say that according to her - the SS seems lighter - to me the 2LT seems heavier. lol If you go with the 6 - go for the 3LT package - it would give you the best of the interior (tilt mirrors when reversing - backup alarms - memory seats and such). I have all that in he 2SS and when I jump in her 2LT to go out - I resent the fact that she doesnt have the tilt mirrors and memory seats - real conveniences Drivability - the V-8 is hands down better than the V-6 in terms of all the stuff you DONT see (brakes/extra options) but mileage - I get 27 on the highway - she gets 29. Realistically - on a 500 mile round trip to see my dad last weekend - I got 24 MPG at around 75 mph - when we did the trip in her car - it was about 1 mpg more. We both have the leather - easier cleanup BIT hotter here in FL..Also - both have the A10 transmission - nice setup with the paddle shifters... Skip the internal navigation and use the Google Maps from your phone - more accurate in regards to realtime traffic delays vs the static map in the car nav. I have that but am using the google maps - save a few $$$ there... It will come down to how much do you want to spend - my car was about $10k more than hers (bought both together) and then live with YOUR decision since you are paying for it... Good Luck!

That said, the 2SS isn't that much heavier than the 2LT, the difference is ~300 pounds, which a pro would definitely notice, but it isn't obvious on the street, especially with the extra power.

Vamonos,
You mentioned leather as a must-have. You can narrow your search results by excluding the 1SS as IIRC, leather is not an “option” on a 1SS. If you wanted leather in an SS, you had to get a 2SS, period. When I was looking, my must-haves were leather (anything but black…not a good color to have on a vert interior that’s going to soak up sun/heat!), NPP, and MRC (although I could have dropped that one if I found the “right” car). Luckily I found a 2SS with all the bells and whistles, and it only had 1880 miles on it, in Dec 2019! Good luck in the search!

I was considering this upgrade as an option in my search, but soon realized I wanted cooled seats and HUD, so I needed a 2LT (or 2SS) at minimum with standard leather. I think there's a recent post somewhere of someone adding a Katzkin kit to their Gen6 (couldn't find the thread, but I didn't look very hard. EDIT: found the thread > https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showt...hlight=katzkin). I added a Kit to my Sierra several years back and was extremely happy with it, took a fair amount of work to install, though. To the OP's original post. I didn't shop V8's at all, for the creature comforts I wanted, the 2SS was way over budget. I ended up with a 2LT V6 and haven't been disappointed: 95% of the time I'm unable to use what the V6 has to offer because of slower traffic in front of me. I'm sure carrying an extra two cylinders that I wouldn't be able to use would make me more frustrated. And for that matter, I test drove a Turbo4 and actually preferred it to the V6 (both A8s). The L4 seemed more "punchy" off the line to me. Last edited by GXP08jrf; 04-15-2022 at 07:49 AM. |

i decided to get the 2018 2lt v6 because i wanted all the convenience and safety feature the car have to offer and drive it to just cruise around. in my case i did not need the v8 power to do any of that. 335 hp is plenty. i did test drove the v6 rs/2ss/and the zl1 before i made my decision, but like GXP08jrf said, 95% of the time, you wont even be able to use that v6 power (and i am just talking about street driving/ cruising).
so in the end, paid my 2lt in cash and just got the following items along the way which i think you might want to consider. = windscreen = afm disabler = mods4cars top module = CAI = exhaust (if you dont have npp) = side skirts and the front = maybe a hash and stripes = and maybe a dash cam highly recommend that you do a test drive so you can have a better feel on how much power do you want that will satisfy your need. |

Bravo!! Excellent points... Xandee, your so right, to add to this going to work is always at night so I definitely won't be speeding with deer and downed trees on the way to work..
So I think I got the car picked out then. Only thing it doesn't have is the NPP exhaust. But it's a 3lt I think 6speed red&black leather RS.. Thanks again. |

No issues yet, but I've only had it for 5 months (mostly winter months) and only 1,200 miles on it so far. I've had a couple of vehicles with light tan seats though and never had problems. Of course, all were leather seats, including the Camaro, so that naturally helps with cleanup if I should happen to spill a drip of coffee or something like that.

I've had limited miles on the car, but I had an interesting "experiment" last week when I took my convertible into Minneaplis for an event on a day with sustained 25-30mph winds out of the west. The drive was about 75 miles each way, most of it cruise control driving at 65mph. On the way to the event (driving east) I hit 33.7mpg as a high 50-mile average. On the way home, now driving west (into the wind), my 50-mile average was 24-25mpg. Prior to that trip my 50-mile high avg was 28mpg or so, so that wind was a 4-5mph bonus or hindrance depending on my direction. Both ways were top-up as it was only around 40*. ETA: the trip to Minneapolis was about 75 miles each way, mostly cruise control driving at an average speed of 65.

Xandee,
Whose splitter and skirts are those? Damn those look good! I really want to get a set and looking at C7 Carbons as they appear to have the best quality. I’m a little skeptical about the lower priced ones from EOS.
