3.6L V6 Makes the 2016 Wards 10 Best Engines List
http://wardsauto.com/engines/electri...t-engines-list
Quote:
GM’s all-new 3.6L direct-injection V-6 (codename LGX) that powers the Cadillac ATS and all-new Chevrolet Camaro earns its place on the list for demonstrating so clearly that a V-6 no longer should be a consolation prize for a customer who really wants a V-8 but can’t afford one. Naturally aspirated with 335 hp, the high-compression LGX achieves an impressive specific output of 92 hp/L, all while running on regular unleaded fuel. And like the BMW engine, this 3.6L has plenty of torque in fifth and sixth gears. No matter the vehicle speed, this all-aluminum V-6 does some of its best work close to the 7,200-rpm redline. Not to be overlooked are the efficiency enhancements, such as Active Fuel Management cylinder deactivation, which cuts off air and fuel to two cylinders under light loads. We saw fuel economy better than 24 mpg (9.8 L/100 km) in the ATS. Editors love both applications of this engine, especially knowing it can be had in the Camaro for as little as $30,795. |

After watching videos of the V-6 Camaro that engine sounds really shockingly good..... it deserves to be on the list that is for sure.
For those asking the LGX is actually has a slightly larger displacement compared to the LFX engine. The LFX engine is 3.564L while the LGX is 3.649L it can almost be labeled a 3.7L engine, everything about the LGX is pretty much better then the LFX engine. also for an apples to apples comparison on fuel eocnomy here are the ATS LFX 6 speed vs LGX 8 speed (as close to apples to apples). 2015 ATS 3.6: 18/28 2016 ATS 3.6: 20/30 |

It just keeps getting better. On top of owning an award-winning car, I own an award-winning powertrain. It's lit!

Though if I remember correctly this was brought up, that some people were butt hurt that the LT1 was on the list. Though I do not know if they will allow an engine to be on the list for more then two years in a row, the LT1 was on the list for 2014 and 2015. This is probably the first time they have had a FPC engine on this list as all others were priced above the price cap. |

I wonder how hard would it be to put the LGX in my 2011 LS someday when it comes time to replace the engine vs. putting in a LT? (not ever planing on selling)
