for sure.. they have over 500k subscribers now, and every video is getting about 500k views. They are probably generating a couple bucks

I'm confused to why they cut so much of the side out vs just the portion in back that was dented.. watching shows on velocity ect it seems like they hack out only bad sections weld new section in vs a giant piece like that.

How Much YouTube Pays YouTubers Per View. Once the YouTuber links Google AdSense to their channel, they make 68% of the ad revenue (see Google AdSense Revenue Share). YouTube charges advertisers when a viewer watches 30 seconds or more of the ad, and typically charges around $.18 per view (see How Much Do Ads on YouTube Cost). Only about 15% of viewers will be counted as a “paid view” since many of them skip.

So if you have 1,000 views to your video and 15% actually watch the ad, then you would have 150 paid views. At $.18 per view, this would equate to $27 total charged to the advertiser. As the content creator you get 68% of that, so you would average around $18 per 1,000 views.

Here is it another way:

1,000 views –> 150 views of people completing the ad

$.18 per view x 150 views = $27 charged to advertiser

$27 advertiser charge x 68% revenue share = $18 paid to content creator per 1,000 views

I assumed it was to keep their body seam (splice) minimal?

They are doing a full quarter panel replacement using the full new part by cutting the damaged panel out at the factory seams all the way around. This is more work and cost than just splicing in some new metal but for my money this is the quality way to repair a 1/4 panel with that much damage. Welded and body sealed back along the factory seams - these guys do it right.

incorrect - they cut up the new OEM part...it actually went around the whole door frame. They said in the video to do all that would mean removing the roof skin, and that is honestly just not needed.

OK - I stand corrected. I admit I did not watch the full video. I used to write repair estimates (thousands of them) but that was a while ago. What I saw was where they joined it through the sail panel and that was fairly normal factory splice point for a new quarter panel back when I wrote estimates. I went ahead and watched the prior video and saw that the part comes as a full side panel (door opening and quarter panel as one). With all that said that repair makes sense. Cutting out the full door opening would have ben overkill. I have to admit these young guys have some pretty good skills.

New ZL1 rebuild episode up.

I can't help but admire these fresh young guys. Fearless and far from shunning hard work, equally willing to share their methods and to learn, they are truly inspiring to (often jaded and concerned) yours truly. This most recent ZL1 quarter panel job alone is beyond impressive, and that's just a drop in the bucket. Can't wait to see the finished product.
