If it wasn't such a tragedy it would be a comedy. OR vice versa.

And that’s happening with California drivers at only about 1% EV car usage! If EV’s were 5-10% of the car mix that state would have rolling blackouts already. Absolute morons.

I guess being asked to charge your EV in off hours is slightly better than what is happening with the power in Texas but both stink.

If you read carefully, they want you to charge during the middle of the day to take advantage of "renewables".
Maybe they plan on everyone working the graveyard shift and charging their all day after they get home?

It could get worse. As more of the Gen C come into power (Generation Clueless) this sort of thing will happen more and more.

I've seen EV chargers in parking lots of large employers, they are usually connected to an EV charging it during the day while the employee is working their day shift. Maybe we'll see more if the directive is to charge during the day and as EVs gain a larger market share.

The generation that raised them probably has some responsibility for how they turned out...

Yes, except when we reach total utopia EVERY parking spot will need one everywhere....

I haven’t seen them around here yet, but my guess is solar canopies and more chargers will be installed as EVs become more widespread. Would be sweet to see some kind of solar charging on the vehicles themselves.

I don’t fill up my gas vehicle every time it’s driven, if EVs don’t charge at each destination maybe charger demand won’t equal # parking spots.

Looks like it was more about possible outages and grid unreliability:

This problem is going to get significantly worse in CA. Their policies are adding fuel to the fire...

Actually you can make this up apparently. lmfao

Zero Hedge (or ZeroHedge)[b] is a far-right[12] libertarian[17] financial blog,[13][14] presenting staff-written articles and aggregating news and opinions from external sources.[18] Zero Hedge, per its motto,[a] is bearish in its investment outlook and analysis, often deriving from its adherence to the Austrian School of economics and credit cycles.[22] While often labeled as a financial permabear,[23][24] Zero Hedge has also been described as a source of "cutting-edge news, rumors and gossip in the financial industry".[25]

Over time, Zero Hedge expanded into non-financial analysis,[c] including conspiracy theories and fringe rhetoric[27] associated with the US radical right,[14][28] the alt-right,[29][30][31] and a pro-Russian bias.[1][32][33][34] Zero Hedge's non-financial commentary has led to a number of site bans by various global social media platforms, although its 2019 Facebook ban[35][36] and 2020 Twitter ban were later reversed.[14][37]

Zero Hedge in-house content is posted under the pseudonym "Tyler Durden"; the founder and main editor was identified as Daniel Ivandjiiski.[26]

also per artticle: The punchline here is clear: the blackouts and high electricity prices that are plaguing California provide a neon-lit warning sign about the electric reliability and energy affordability crises that loom if policymakers attempt to decarbonize our economy too quickly.

So we just going to avoid that whole convo on how Texas cant sustain their grid? The one without federal regulations and only 20% renewables. lol

We should build coal fired power plants in Mexico. That way out air is clean and our new GMC Hummer 9,000 lb pickups can suck up all that energy.
Hell, I outta run for PRESIDENT!!

So from the people's perspective...they're screwed. Any wonder why people are moving OUT of CA a hell of a lot faster than people are moving in? Nope.

So the state mandated a heavy switch to solar/wind power...which doesn't produce much at night...basically zero. They are against nuclear power...even modern systems that have basically a perfect safety record. The state forced the power companies to take almost all the natural gas power generating plants offline over the last few years...and now their largest hydroelectric power generating dam is basically run out of excess water to use for generation (they gotta save it for drinking water). Well who saw this coming? basically every engineer in the energy industry but the state government and their over the top environmentalist groups said, "No, we know better"...so the state government set the rules...and there you go. This isn't even the first time they've basically "run out" out of electricity in CA...so they have been WARNED...they should have knew this was coming...totally avoidable.

It’s usually best to charge electric cars at night...you are home and the demand requirements on the power grid is at it's lowest...that is when you have a good mix of power generation sources. So all that solar/wind power generation ramps up during the day...but so does the demand from air conditioning usage...so there really isn't a ton of excess kilowatts in the system to charge 100,000+ Teslas.

I'm not against helping the environment...just be smart about it. Use natural gas to handle extra demand/or nighttime. Or you have to install tons of electric storage (i.e. REALLY big battery packs...google Tesla megapack). But even that isn't REALLY doable on a state wide scale because those same environmentalists have basically been blocking every company that has tried to open up lithium mines in the U.S. (pretty damn important ingredient for good batteries) because "that mining "harms" the planet"...well sorry KAREN...pick your F-in poison.

I see that you got that off of Wikipedia. Did you catch the founder of Wikipedia in the news recently? He said that it has been commandeered by the Left.

Here are some clues from your quote:
* "far-right" -- a term made up by Leftists, refers to a person or organization that does not support Socialism.
* "far-right libertarian" -- nonsense phrase (libertarian is a mix of right and left wing).
