500 miles and a rock hits the car...

Literally 500 miles and a huge piece of gravel nailed my roof right above windshield. Anyone have any luck with touch up paint?

Some touch up will look better than those spots. That sucks. Feel bad for you.

Well that blows. The good is the first one generally hurts the most. With 12000 miles, I have a few I need to touch up myself. The car is like a magnet to stones. If you don’t have rock guards installed or ordered, do this very soon.

Right!? Haha. Once I get it touched up, I will be putting a nice amount of protection up there. It was a chunk of gravel from the car on the next lane over, just flew right up

That really sucks, I have my roof done with ppt and took a rock to my windshield on the drive home from the dealer with my car 2 years ago. I would get that repaired, I don't know if I could touchup paint that.

I've had very good results using Dr. Color Chip. I bet you'll be the only person that notices it when done.
Just take your time. It might take 3 or four tries. Be patient.
Good luck.

It’s tough I tell ya. It’s like seeing that first piece of cellulite on the lady.

I have a few spots on the splitter where ppf wasn’t enough either.

I have expel on the front clip as well and have a couple rock chips right through it. No guarantees. I don't get overly concerned about it. My car is a daily driver, it's not a garage queen. The first chip hurts the worst. Get some touch up paint and fill them in. I have tried that dr color chip. I ended up just getting a real fine quality paint brush for chips and using that. The Dr Color ship seems to work "ok" for very minor chips. Anything a bit bigger I found it easier to just use the dr Color chip paint with a fine quality brush. It ain't perfect, but it looks better then primer.

I ordered the GM touch up paint ‘pen’. Matches the color perfectly and does a decent job. Those type chips, deep into the primer coat, never really get completely camouflaged, but it’s good enough to by. No one would notice if you didn’t point it out type of repair.

a friend told me that the right color sharpie makes the chips invisible and he was right.as long as its not through the primer that should be ok.

As others said, the first cut is the deepest

Dr ColorChip works fine, I for one ordered an ACDelco touch-up pen that has a scraper, base color and clear coat in one package (plus I also got a spray can's worth of the base and Goodwrench clearcoat, just in case I need to paint a larger piece off the car, heh).

Color match of the ACDelco stick was 100.0% perfect with my garnet red, the touch-ups I did are only visible because I didn't sand or level out the entire surrounding area, just wanted to make sure the panel is protected.
