Oil Filter - Switching to non-PF64

I have always changed my oil and really don't think the PF64 is a good filter and I like the better ones.

I am partial to anything K&N. Plus having the nut on the end is great.

What are people using? How about the K&N

What makes you think the PF64 is worse than a K&N? Do you have any actual data?

In for cut-apart pics.

Amsoil.

They are the only(as of the last time I checked), synthetic element filter on the market.

K&N is over priced for what you are getting. I would just run a WIX.

No offense as I have never used WIX, but I thought those were the cheap ones. I just looked and I did see the Amsoil WIX one and it looks impressive.

I just looked are oil filter ratings and they were 7th out of 7.

For the purposes of warranty protection, I'll be sticking to the OEM filter. I'll be changing it at least every six months, so I'm not pushing the limits of its life anyway.

i have found that it is difficult to find an aftermarket oil filter in stock in my area or online anywhere that has the same 22 psi bypass valve rating as the PF 64. Has anyone found the same problem? Most of the after market offerings seem to be rated in the 12-15 psi range

Amsoil and WIX are NOT The same....

Amsoil is one filter.... WIX is another.

And that site you posted is garbage LOL... Its a shill site if I have ever seen one. "BUY NOW BUY NOW BUY NOW"

Only oil site I trust is BITOG.

WIX builds A TON of the OEM filters. They are regarded as being pretty good while being cheap.

Just curious. You don't think the filter that GM's engineers selected for this engine is "good", you may switch to K&N with no objective data that it is any better or any good at all, and your research is taking an internet poll on what filters are better than GM's specific designation?

Typically I go with the Mobil1 or WIX. NAPA Gold are same as the WIX. Purolator are also good. (I like to get one with a good anti-drain, rubber....).

The PF64 is NOT exclusive to the ZL1 or LT4 for that matter.... It is NOT designed for anything special as far as the LT4 goes.

Im not sure why the Corvette is not on this list because it uses the PF64 as well....

Like I said WIX is the OEM for a lot of people. I cant remember if its the OEM for AC Delco or not, but for the Jeeps I used to run I am almost 100% certain(my memory aint so good anymore) that WIX was the OEM for Mopar. I think WIX is also the OEM for a few aftermarket companies as well.
