Two different blacks?

Hi all, I have a 17 ZL1 in black, paint code in trunk is GBA….either my eyes are more jacked up than I think or the splitter, side skirting, grill, and the air inlets at the fog lights are a metallic black

Is this a possibility from the factory or maybe someone replaced damaged pieces with the mosaic black?

I have seen this on a 19 SS that I detailed. I also wondered if the metallic black pieces were replacement after an accident. But an auto shop would paint the pieces themselves. They wouldnt fix the car with painted pieces, I dont think. Nor would they mix in metallics to paint they made up. So I really dont know the answer.

Paint can look quite different on metal vs plastic. Mfg'ers have not completely solved this issue. I recently saw a Mazda with that deep red metallic almost like the Wild Cherry Camaro color and the bumpers vs the rest of the body were VERY different shades of red and the metallic was not the same either.

Totally normal. On all ZL1 coupes (non-1LE) and convertibles , the splitter, rockers, grille, diffuser, and painted hood insert if so optioned is WA384A aka GB8 Mosaic Black Metallic.

One is black and the other is a slightly darker black.

Always thought this was weird for black cars. The black should match I think.

One advantage to having a Mosiac Black Metallic ZL1. The paint over the entire car matches.
