V6 MPG
I get 17-18 mpg on my 2012 Camaro. It has a little over 100k miles but the engine has about 50k on it. I have no idea how my car guzzles gas so fast. Pretty sure it has a 93 octane tune. The most I rev it up to while driving normally is 2.5k, and I spend a good amount of time driving down the highway. Any ideas why its only getting 18 mpg, or is this a normal LFX engine thing?

I'm sorry really can't give you an answer to help you but I have a 2014 v6 with just a CAI and Catch Can and get about 22 MPG, however I only have half the mileage you have and use 93 octane fuel and keep the RPMs down like you do. I'm sure someone on this forum will be able to help. It's a loaded question. Hopefully it will be something simple. Good luck!!

MPG seems kind of low...
I have 211750 on my LLT V6, and I am getting 25.5 average, 29+ on the highway. My miles per gallon were never that low, even with bad VVT solenoids and coil packs. I refreshed the motor with 3000 mile LFX take-off parts, and it helped a lot. Went from 22.6 average to 24 average. Cut the secondary cats off, and went to 25.3 MPG average. Just added an AIRAID tube, and AEM dry drop in filter. Average MPG went to 25.5 after about a week. I run 88 (E15), & fill till the auto-shut off triggers, then squeeze 2 gallons of E85 in. I am also running 5W40 Rotella T6 oil. 383 mile round trip, about 13.5 to 14 gallons of fuel, depends on ambient temperature. 35 degrees, it's 14.5 gallons. 70+ degrees, it's ~13.5 gallons. This last Tuesday was in the 50s: 11.9 Gallons of 88 2 Gallons of E85 Wed was 37 average: 12.2 Gallons of 88 2 Gallons E85 Tuesday the 4th, was in the 60s: 11.4 Gallons 88 2 Gallons E15 I run this route 3 days a week, 383-385 miles. Home to PGH, to 5-stops in Ohio, back to PGH, then home. Last edited by AlanRubin; 05-15-2021 at 07:16 PM. |

About right.
18mpg is what I get around town with my auto and I assume the 2.92s have something to do with that. Does seem low but it's always been like that since I bought it new. Highway is around 32 tho.

What Redcoats said, 22. It’s hard to compare driving styles from here but that’s not far off if you like to play.

I had a 12 2LT and used to get around 22-24 avg with a light foot. If I was all highway I could pull off 28. All city would be about 18-20.

My DIC says 21.6, local driving. I don't drive it mildly though, and I have gotten 28 highway. I have done some experiments. Mileage with sunroof open or closed. Windows open or closed. First off, anything over 55 doesn't help. The car just loves 55. But any window or sunroof open makes mileage worse, especially over 55.
But if I wanted high MPGs I'd own a Prius. For me, weather permitting, windows open, sunroof open. |

18 seems rather low on a V6, unless you're driving it hard. I'm getting 22.5 on my LFX auto, and I can't stay under 100 on the highways (although I crawl like a turtle in the "city").
I use Kroger 93 octane. |

How are you calculating 18? Resetting the DIC for each tank, or is that what it’s showing having never been reset? When you divide miles between fill-ups by the amount of gas you use you get your actual MPG. Without knowing how you’re getting 18 it’s hard to know if it’s valid
