Baking Vs Cutting Headlights

I ordered some of the diode dynamics rgbw headlight upper and lower DRLs. I remember when I first started looking at the DRLs people were saying they couldnt get them to bake open. Now I see that oracle has instructions to bake and cut. Has anyone baked the headlights on the 6th gen with any success. Should I try baking before cutting? Is there any downside to trying to bake them first? Also any recommendations on a sealant. I know if I cut I am going to have to use some kind of rtv since I wont be able to use butyl tape.

The shop that did mine cut them and sealed them back closed. From everything I researched when I was looking at doing this pointed to cutting was the better option as people were getting mixed results with baking.

Cutting is easier to me. Seems like a lot more work when baking. I tried to bake on some older headlights years ago and it didnt work out. Ive used the cut method ever since.

cutting it is. I'm just going to grab some of the gorilla rtv from lowes and seal them with that.

Just lay some painters tape where u dont want the rtv to go. Then pull it off before it dries. Also, make sure you dont touch the inside of the headlight lens. You can blow dust off but dont try to clean it with anything.

On my Tiburon when I added some halo I baked it and it worked perfectly. A little more work but way cleaner results.

That, plus do you use a dremel or a soldering iron to cut open the headlights?
