I don't have an auto but from previous posts of auto/manped comparisons the auto wasn't much louder.

I didn't read that anywhere unless I missed it. But that seems unlikely to begin with since someone would have had to drove both an M6 and A8 with it out. The only thing with the autos is the AFM sound gets worse with it out. But the manual guys don't have to worry about that mess.

I just took the foam out, and took it for a leisure drive.

It didn't make that much of a difference when cruising; but it gets louder as I step on the gas a bit more...

I enjoy the added sound whenever I give it more gas; and foam is staying off...

Noticeable increase in engine noise once you get to half throttle on up. Cool mod

Will you keep it like that, or put the foam back in? If I make the change, id like to keep it that way.

Great choice! Is it worth it? If done, I'd like to keep it like that. I love this car!

Great question!

Honestly, I'll probably keep it out for now. It does get loud in the cabin when you get near WOT. I'll see how I like that at the next autox and reassess. The good news is its really so simple to undo/redo.

Based on the different feedbacks, I'm wondering if there's more science to it than just being subjective.

For example, I'm noticing a slight difference; and my foam is fairly short at 1 1/8" in length. For those who noticed a bigger difference, what's your foam length?

The foam seemed to be molded at a certain diameter but cut at later time. So it's possible that not all foams were cut to same lengths, which contribute to different delta in sound... just saying...

Agreed. Thanks for the input.

Seems to be some confusion. This mod will sound the exact same as the M6 cars when your in 8 cylinder mode. The only time it will sound any different is in 4 cylinder mode or when its switching between modes. So WOT sounds will be identical.

So I did the mood on Sunday. Love the new sound. I find that it is only loader up until about 1600 rpm our when I punch it, and even at that it cuts out before the car gets to 2k. I run the my car in sport mode all the time with track tuned on the exhaust mode. I haven't pulled the fuse for the exhaust, but I'm thinking of trying that to see if it makes a difference. Anyone have any other ideas.
Oh love the sound will be staying with the mod.

If you're looking for more cabin sound, be sure to fold the back seat down, there's a lot of sound deadening in the backseat
