Ford has said that the 5.2 was more difficult than normal to get certified and pass quality, emissions, etc..

Consider that. This is the same company that made the 5.4 S/C motor from the GT and GT500, the 5.8 Trinity, etc...but it was the 5.2 Voodoo that was the biggest challenge.

I understand, but it goes to show they could do it and still put it in a low volume car starting in the low 50s.
