I’d go with a 2020 A10 or manual if you get a used A8 who knows about the shudder on it. You’ll never be able to find out if the car had it or how bad it was. Carfax doesn’t tell you everything.

OTOH, manual trannies are a dying breed. Less than 10% of muscle cars ship with manuals, and now 0% of new corvettes! So, dive in while you still can!

Note with the old A8's that shipped with the original fluid... flush does not always fix the shudder. It all depends on how much wear occurred before the flush was performed.
You can really impress some people who are easily impressed. It's fun to drive people who've never even heard of a car you have to shift manually. They think you're working some kind of voodoo magic

Go A10 (2019 +) or manual. Taking the risk on the A8 and the shudder and dealing with that is up to you of course. I personally wouldn't bother.

The auto will be quicker but the manual is more engaging and fun to drive. I vote for the manual, you will feel accomplished when you’ve mastered it.

I had both- a 2017- bought brand new 2LT with V6 and A8. The shudder was horrible. At that time GM did not have a fix. Mine spent more time at the dealership than with me driving it. It end needing a new torque converter. I was so fed up, I traded the car in after 6K miles. I loved the Camaro itself so I bought a used (6K miles) 1Lt, V6 this time with M6. I loved it- fun to drive, absolutely no issues. First gear is short though, you have to let it really rev to get it going was my only partial complaint.

So bottom line I'd get A10 only if you insist on automatic or get M6.

Don't think the RS models come with the TR6060, and not sure on the no lift feature on them as well.

One thing about a manual is it’s a great burglar alarm, people are to stupid these days to drive it at least Nobody will steal it.

True, true, my bad, I read SS for some reason. The TR-3160 is still a great unit, and as per Al Oppenheiser, NLS has been available on all engines after MY 2017.

I drive in stop-and-go LA traffic. Still no regrets having a manual. In fact, it gives me something to do and helps me from being distracted by the phone. Whenever I drive an auto on some twisty roads, I always start imagining how fun it would be with a manual.

Unless you live in the country somewhere, I'd go with the auto. I've had both.
